Best Thing To View Trichomes?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Grade A, Aug 29, 2014.

  1. Just bought one of those mini microscopes that go from 60x-100x and holy shit I can't seem to focus this damn thing. What's the best way to check tricha? I'm ready to cut a little leaf off them and try to view that lol

  2. Put the microscope right against the chron (like touching or 1cm away) then focus it.

  3. Haha thanks. Didn't wanna touch the buds with it but I guess I have to. It works

  4. Yep get right the fuck in there lol. Snoops pic is nothing compared to a jewellers loop. You can see individual trys, tell how developed they are. See how far amber they have gone (but some strains dont go amber) and you can know when the best time to harvest is. A calender is a guide. A closer look will let the plant tell you when its ready.

  5. In addition. Some people like to harvest when there still white or just going amber. And sometimes you wait till there almost fully amber. Depending on desired effects.

That's an interesting fact. How does harvesting early affect from harvesting an amber trich plant?

Well, these guys have already given good suggestions. Deleting mine, because it was crap. :<

  8. I use a Carson 60x-100x MicroMax. They are hard to focus. I put mine on the table on white paper kinda pinching the test leaf with the base. Then slowly spin the knob to focus. Mine has a light. There is a learning curve to it but mine works great! I wish I could take pics of what I can see with it. Hope this help.

Posted this in the other topic with same name. maybe my bad, don't know thought I would move it here...

  9. Thanks, my phone posted twice for some reason and I couldn't figure out how to delete the other one lol
When trichomes become amber the thc degrades and turns into cbd I believe. Which gives you the "couch lock" high it's good for anti anxiety I believe. If you harvest earlier it's more of a upper high and you can function better lol.

  10. When it comes to trich color this is my what I think. Its like sharpening a chainsaw to cut up beef.
yes the sharper the chain the faster it will go though, but if the engine has everything it needs the
chain will cut. Bud if grown right will get you where you want to go, given you don't cut ridiculously early.
When the blood settles and the smoke clears IMO, its what goes in way before the last few days.

Ohhhhh! Ok I get it. I guess that makes sense, good to know thanks

  12. More amber gives more of a narcotic affect. Cloudy gives you more of the soaring uplifting high. All personal pref. I enjoy both. But there is a time and place for the narcotic buzzes

  13. And your questions have been answered. Thats exactly it. Full amber will usually leave you couchlocked. And the clearer they are is an uplifting buzz. The chainsaw thing isent a great analysis. Because if you have no teath or very dull teath you get no where. You have to make sure thoes trys have there heads on them befor harvest. Punchreba had got it down. Its all personal pref. If you wana make a prestige oil that looks clearer then honey oil. This is a must.

  14. lol oh but you are cutting beef with it....not wood! I get the amber vs clear timing I have a loop and use it.
I have grown the same strain though many flowers 10+ and IMO the things you do in the weeks up to harvest
has more to do with outcome all the way around. I have make some clear bho that looks amazing, I have made
the same bho with more amber than clear. IMO the only difference is taste. The high is same throughout the strain.
Again this is just my opinion, I only know what I have done and works for me. I use to get stuck on micro details when
just starting, like trich color. When just starting out, smoking weed that you grew was like printing money!

  15. I had first got the scope at radio shack. You know the one. It's black, 60-100, with the light ...
Anyway, when I brought it home I was so excited to geta lookin! I said this thing sucks! Wtf! I can't see shit! So I feel ya, it was so frustrating until I figured it out. It's still a pain in the ass lol, but it works... After a while, you just know when your bud is ripe.

  16. Lol that's the same one I bought. Except mine came from the hydro store so it's the same quality but cost 3 times more lmao. But RadioShack didn't carry them in stores here

Glad I helped you dude, I thought I got ripped off for about 2 hours before I realized I had to touch it to the chronicles lol.
By the way, on amazon you can get super cheap magnifying glasses/microscopes (under $15) if you get an amazon prime trial.

  19. These color changes are good for those who would like to experiment a bit. An example. take sample of Sativas dominate and Indica's dominate different stages. Just make sure you start at cloudy and work your way through mostly amber. Once you figure out what you like best that can be your future objective with your coming grows. The varying strains make it a challenge. What is nice is so many people have done this for you. But you will find some personal satisfaction in being able to tailor your smoke to your tastes and desires.
