How To Cut Mulitiple Tops

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by calisol, Aug 28, 2014.

  1. so I think I´ve got a pretty good handle on topping my plant just once. I´ve waited until the plant has about 3-4 nodes and then just cutting or pinching the top set of leaves right at the node below where the 2 new tops develop. Seeing some good results from my first attempts.

But my question is if I want to go for 4 tops when do I make the cuts on the 2 new mains? do I wait tell they each have 3-4 nodes above where I made the original top? or could I just top them right away leaving them with no sets of leaves?

working on autoflowers if that makes any difference for the technique.

    Thanks!

  2. u can do it right away if u want, it will just slow the growth time down cuz of stress

    im not sure about autos?

  3. Don't top the tips leaving no sets of leaves. Top The Tips leaves a pair each. This will cause them to fork and double the tips. Top them all again leaving a pair of nodes on each will double up again

  4. I'd a wait a bit and let 1 or 2 sets of leaves develop before topping again.

  5. Topping an autoflower is a sure fire way to get an even smaller yield.

  6. Oh right it's an auto! Don't top man, topping is a form of training that is only useful while vegging. Doing it to an auto won't do you any favours
