I'm thinking of starting a commercial medical grow in Oregon, but I'm trying to come up with some rough numbers to work with. Can anybody tell me what the dispensaries are paying per pound?

Here is some math that I came up with...does this sound reasonable?
I'm allowed to have 6 mature plants with my medical card. Can I expect at least 1lb per plant with a 1kw light?

If I veg a plant for 2 months under 600w it will cost $70 in electricity. If I flower that plant for 3 months under a 1kw light that will cost approximately $120 in electricity. Add money for nutrients and such, let's call it $250 production cost per plant, per harvest. Does that sound right?

If the above numbers work, and I can get $1500 per pound...
    Then 1 plant = $1250 profit, six plants = $7500 every 3-4 months.

That seems to high to me. How do those numbers look to you? Tell me where I'm wrong. I already have a place I can do this so rent = free. Obviously, I would need to stagger my harvest so as not to go over my 24oz limit.

  2. I'd say you're very wrong about pulling 6 lbs from a 1KW light.  Your power must be really cheap there too.

  3. Sea of Green if you're growing indoors. You're nuts if you think you're pulling 6 pounds from 1KW. Even if you could pull 2.5 gpw, you're still only getting 5.5 pounds and you'd have to have a sealed room with all environmentals controlled and dialed in. At that point, you're looking at a lot more than just energy bills from lights.

  4. Unless you walk in with lab test results and some really really dank high grade high THC high CBD meds, then you won't get the money you are seeking. You will want $10 a gram, they will offer $5. They will ask you where you grew it and how. if you tell them in a closet with cfl bulbs and tin foil walls, you won't get more than $5 a gram.
Years ago a buddy of mine and I had an indoor grow but we used those huge hi output lamps. The electric bill was around $1k a month, and all the money we made on our grows went to the electric bills. Make sure the dispensaries will pay what you seek. Most of them will ask what you want. They will always offer lower, unless you walk in with super dank hydro that tests out at 28% THC. Then you will get $15 a gram for that. Good luck.

  5. $5/g is almost $2300/lb.  He's only looking for $1500/lb.  $15/g would be almost $7K/lb - NOBODY is going to pay that EVER.

  6. 448 grams in a pound. divided that into 1500 it's $3.34 a gram. Then the dispensaries sell it for $10 a gram. That a helluva profit. But you are right. I have to account for larger quanities = lower prices.

  7. 453.6 g in a pound dude, plus it should always be heavy from the source.

  8. Oh yeah, I forgot the point 3 lol.

  9. Oh no, you forgot almost 6 grams.  You're not doing so well on these math questions, lol.

  10. I would make a shitty dealer lol.

  11. You arent supposed to be making money off this.. its not an "easy way to get rich"
You get reimbursed for the cost of the grow and nothing more. With that being said you can usually get up to 2400 a pound for some quality medicine, but it also has to get tested which costs money. Most dispensaries work on consignment too so you have to wait for them to sell it

  12. unless your in central California 60 1/8

  13. yea im in SoCal ad all the top shelf is $50 and up for an 1/8th and fire concentrates $40+ a gram

but i use to pay $60 in ohio so its about the same

  14. Maybe try processing it into the cleanest oil you can possibly make and try to sell it to the dispensaries, and do an outdoor grow so you don't need electricity.. Try to sell for 40 a gram (probably less) and see where you can get from there. I feel even then they won't take just anybodys oil even if you can tell it's very clean and potent.

  15. almost every state is non-profit dispensary's. in Colorado and Washington you can have a for profit legal what ever. But he is right. this isn't a get rich quick thing. you will be providing meds to a lot of patients who need it. you will also be in direct competition with everyone else who is trying to do the same thing.

you could potentially make money off a illegal grow but honestly that would be stupid. it isn't worth the time and effort plus the risk involved.

so most indoor plants do average of 2-6 ounces a plant. it's hard to pull out anything higher but possible if you have the right set up, genetics, and grow techniques.  so lets say you are pulling 4 ounces to start that's 24 ounces a harvest. You could also work into a perpetual grow so you harvest every 2 months or every month instead of every 4.
you would always be running a room of veg and a room of flower doing that but its the best to capitalize with. even that being said you are not going to set up a MMJ business with 6 plants....... here in new mexico each dispensary can have 300 plants at a time and they still run out like crazy.  I personly know of at least 2 places here that has there employees use there plant counts for their total amount. so each person adds another 4  in flower and 12 in veg to the total count.

  17. 454 g lol I used to take the extra 6 when I was doing things too lol!

  18. A lot of collectives here in CA grow and sell thier own medication using phone, Web, email and delivery as thier method of doing business. It takes out the cost of trying to sell medication to a dispensary that will pay you less than what they sell it for. The thing is...if the medication isn't good..no one will come back...it is all about supply and demand...and quality of course.

  19. In the greenparrotseeds site you could find the prices of all the seeds like a maxi bourse, I recommend you

  20. I'd say got sea of green. If youre wanting it for a business then you need a cultivations license. Most Med shops around here in so cal don't even buy anything off you without that license. (Regular basis buys)
Another thing is you want to be able to get 2500-3500 a pound? Get it lab tested. Most Med shops work off a 2.5x profit margin. As do most businesses that have to deal with as much taxes as med shops deal with. Now that means they pay you $5 a gram let's say( which is high for most new growers) now they have to sell that for 10-15$ at least in order to make it even worth their time. The over head, staff, security,Taxes. All that is a factor for them. I have buddies that still get 4G a pound but they are one of the few around that get that. Having lab tested results and high quality perfectly cured buds will rake it in. But cultivation s license and lab test results are a must for selling to the med shops.
