I am not only a new grower , but also very new to grass city . Any and all suggestions would be appreciated! Welcome to my journey . I'm very excited about it. N3wgr0z
I should be honest. I attempted my first go at germinating with 4 of my 25 seeds. 10 of those were random freebies from the seed company. The six I had left are pictured above. I failed miserably at the first 4 seeds. I germinated them using the paper towel method which worked great. All four seeds popped!! My failure was after planting them in my jiffy seed starter kit. I read somewhere to put a heating pad under the newly spouted seeds to help them grow. I either set it to high on accident or the pad malfunctioned. Long story short , I cooked my first four seeds!!! It was horrible. These next six were germinated by soaking them in my favorite coffee cup full of water for 24 hrs. I then used the paper towel method to get them to pop! Worked perfectly! 100% germ rate!! N3wgr0z
I guess that was my plan because I don't remember what I had planned out for the next step lol. N3wgr0z
I love it, you jump right in and GO FOR IT! Some people talk about growing and others get after it! So you going to get them going in the flood table soon?
Guess I should explain my lights. I made my own reflector using tin ducting and a light strip. Going with cfls for now. Trying to keep the cost down till I get some experience. Total lumens at 6500k for veg will around 10k lumens. Will be the same for flowering but at 2500k. Last pic is of my flowering room. N3wgr0z
Well I've had the seeds for almost a year now. We've been doing some remodeling etc. so had some folks around that didn't need to know. It gave me plenty of time to read and watch like 411 hrs of you tube vids!!! Which I would like to give them creds!! I can't name them all or remember which ones I watched. But they were a great help!! N3wgr0z
i will be working on that tonight. The other thread I started someone mentioned Nute burn. I haven't used any nutes yet. Maybe a lack of?? N3wgr0z
The light and reflector is real crafty and looks sweet. The pictures on how to do it would help a lot of new growers. I am impressed. Yea could be a lack of nutes. I start hydro babies out low like 100-150 PPM and build the up to 400PPM over the first month and get them up around 600+
Light reflector materials 6" or 8" round and how ever many feet you'll need it. I used a 5' piece and cut it in half . Hind sight I should have just bought the shorter pieces. Cutting the tin makes it VERY sharp! Stood pipe on end and used screws to hold it open and trace out the contour on plywood Then predrilled holes at end to secure plywood to ends I used a 4 light vanity bar for the light bar. Pretty cheap at lowes. Light bar comes apart . Has instructions N3wGr0z
You then have to mount the light bar to the reflector pipe. I just centered the light bar and drilled holes for mounting. When drilling the home to run your light cord out the top it has to be bigger than the mounting holes. You MUST protect the wore coming out of the hood. It is very sharp and will cut it and cause all kinds of horrible things . Including death !! It's electricity people !! I just used an old extension cord I had laying around for the power cord. You must have a general knowledge on how to wire it together . N3wGr0z
again I saw this done in a similar way on you tube. So I give creds to them. I'd link the video but I can't find it. Just cleaned my floor up real good!! Gettin the flood table set up!! N3wGr0z
Iv never done a flood table, I did have an aquaponics setup in a hot tub but it was wick irrigation and was a floating raft non cannabis grow. I have a tough enough time keeping the plants standing up in a DWC.
I'm a little hesitant about This flood and drain I'm doing. Grabbing the bull by the horns so to speak N3wGr0z
Looking forward to seein how the hydrocorn does. Wtf is that stuff anyways? Before you do anything like the heating pad, ask here first, pm me or snoop and wait a day. A simple question and patience can save you a lot of heartache later. For hydro? Edit: Consider trying this your first go around http://www.amazon.com/2-2-lbs-Stimulator-Hydroponic-Hydroponics/dp/B000CO7U02 Will simplify the process imo. I used to use those nutes and dont recommend them anymore.
I'm along for the ride as well. Subbed! Don't be intimidated by the flood and drain. It's quite a simple system. You are on the right track so far friend!
