Below are pictures of 2 plants that are budding incredibly slowly. The one with the smaller buds (sorry for the lack of detail but they both appear to have the same problem) is afghani and has been in bloom (complete with pistols and all!) for around 45 days now. The other plant is a g-13 which is only more developed due to its 2 months spent in bloom. Also, both plants have remained short and bushy showing nearly no stretch. Extraneous info: i use ph treated water, nutes once a week (ionic brand), i have 2 1000 watt HPS bulbs for around 20 plants. The only big issue i can think of is the temperature which hits 85-90 during the 'day' and around 75-80 at 'night.' Also, most of my other plants have issues with bud development (i think), showing below average bud size despite above average bloom times. Any input would be much appreciated! And if it makes a difference, these plants are clones, and not grown from seeds.
Know nothing about growing indoors, grew outside once. (Lowryder) 80 gram yeild... and I think that one plant was %60 luck, but could you try adding different blossom nutrients to the soil. But id look into that first, just hoping I help somewhat
oh, I remember reading that your lights kelvin can have an impact on your plants well-being, as-well as the day/night cycle you got going on also did you use your HPS bulbs for the vegetative stage?
how many hours of light do you give them a day? that can affect budding because of photoperiodism Also is there any light reaching your plant during the "night" hours because that may be the problem
I give them 11 hours of light and 13 of darkness. I'm fairly certain there are no light leaks but i guess i dont know how pitch black its supposed to be (like cant see your hand in your own face vs just barely being able to see an outline?)
U dont want to see anything in front of your face pitch black ------------------------------- http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1291587-Jumpers-cfl-organic-beginnings
Then u are still super early in flowering or cut the nitrogen intake ------------------------------- http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1291587-Jumpers-cfl-organic-beginnings
To me they look in bad shape. It's their health that is causing the low bud count. Could you have a mite or thrip infestation? you have a lot of speckling on the leaves. Can you photograph the whole plant and possibly how you have your set up also? What % of the full dosage of your nutes are you using? Is that the temperature reading right on top of the plants directly under the lamp? There's no point measuring the temperature on the floor or on a wall. You need to know what the plants are getting
I'd give this a quick read, simply because your using all them nutrients http://forum.grasscity.com/absolute-beginners/567829-ph-what-means-your-plants.html if im correct Ph becomes like ph(something) and thats what causes the buds to be made. (please correct if I'm wrong
Your plants are really stunted. What is your ventilation setup? Have you checked for bugs? Light leaks? It should be pitch dark. What size pots? More information needed to really figure out what is going on. Those temperatures should not cause stunting.
Agree. It amazes me how people seem surprised that their plants aren't yielding when they look poorly, just because they are "x weeks old", then they make it seem like the plant is the problem. This grow has had problems from the start. It's stunted growth through the weeks could have been caught a lot earlier. As the plant ages out, I hope it can kick out of this, but I have my doubts. These plants are already 6-8 weeks old in flower, and they look like they are on week 2.
Is your water bottled spring, distilled, RO water, or tap water? If tap water is it clorinated? What are you PHing to? Are they soil, hempy, hydro, coco....? You feed them once a week, how much do you give them? Is the medium completely dry when you give it to them or is it still wet at all?
Are you referring to all the nutrients besides ionic bloom? If you say so, but i was under the impression they helped. Its at the height level of the lights but slightly to the side of one of the lights (not directly under but still close, its hanging like 6 inches away for easy accessibility). What are thrips? I have semi-frequent mite troubles but they get taken care of IMMEDIATELY as any pop up, and i dont think either of those plants have ever had mites on them. I can probably photograph the plants/setup later tonight. I use the dosage reccomended on the nute containers (so 100%). Those 2 plants are particularly bad off, but i think my plants as a whole are blooming kinda slowly. But most of them look healthy etc.
It needs to be pitch black. Any light leak will effect flowering. Plants dont see light like we do, they see par (photosynthetically active radiation) It may look pitch dark to you but ANY Light leak will cause this. And to be honest, without reading anything after your first post i thought light leak just by looking. Check that your timer didnt get bumped and have lights comin on at odd hours. Pitch black is the goal here.
