Please help me ASAP, my cannabis seedling was doing just fine yesterday, but as soon as I woke up, I found her laying completely on the soil, her stem is very weak and her leaves are curling downwards, kind of looks like she's "drying out" from lack of water, but I give her plenty of water whenever the soil is dry. Also, I have another seedling next to her in the same pot that is about half a week old. During the day I give them sunlight for around 3-4 hours and during the night I leave them under a halogen lamp for 4-5 hours. It's never had problems until just now. Please help, I think they're dying P.S. Sorry about the bad quality, I took the picture with my iPod 4
I water them as soon as the soil is chalk dry, so like once every 1-2 weeks. Okay, I'll try that, thanks.
Uhhh what? Yes they do...cali gets light from at least 6 am to like 8-10 pm. And thats only cali, there are so many places. You realize it will flower from seed, right? I'm in southern ontario and we get 12+ hours of light from may-late july/august.
My bad, that only happens in the summer in North America. I meant the rest of the world. And cannabis is native to Nepal. Countries with a very hot climate all year round don't have more than 10 hours of sunlight.
I noticed my seedlings have a black stem at their bases. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's stem rot? If so, I probably watered them too much at once. Is this reversible if I stop watering them for a while?
And I live in Canada, our days in the summer are around 15 hours long. I made a mistake, I meant really hot places in the world.
It's probably dead or dying by now. Damping off is what it's called from overwatering. Even old pros do it from time to time. It's a horticultural disease or condition, caused by a number of different pathogens that kill or weaken seeds or seedlings before or after they germinate. It is most prevalent in wet and cool conditions. Learn to judge the weight of the pot and you'll know when it needs water.
Please listen to CanadianOrganic and Snoopdogg6502. Seedlings do really well under constant light, and with constant light they should be watered at least once every couple days. If you would rather let the medium dry completely between watering you could mist the leaves with clean water once or twice a day with a squirt bottle, which is something the plant will appreciate anyway.
