     Welcome to my journey into the world of organics.

    Im starting this dairy so i can document my own progress and so i can learn from the "orgamaniacs" here on grasscity
    And also to give gandalf the green some space back in his inbox :laughing:  :laughing: .(thank you).
    This is not a "canna" journal but i will be using a water only soil as close to "lumperdawgs" as i can find here in "blighty"  and putting it to use in all my garden spaces..

    I have grown very little in soil and this is my first attempt at growing the garden of my dreams.

    Its a work in progress summers coming to an end here soon and i hope to be ready to go come next spring.

    ..soil mix i aim to make 400litres of water only mix at a time and add that to the raised flower beds as they are made ..

    Subbed! Fucking gulls are biting like crazy Bubs.

  6. its going in the buildasoil.com box im getting from the usa .loki that neem karanga and anything else gandalf suggests..

    gotta watch them shithawks buddy...

  7. good prenoon.

    compost bins are lots of fun!

    smaller size peaces are best. all bout same side.

    mix of green, brown and kitchen stuffs.

    green;
    grass, fresh leaves, cabage etc

    brown;
    autums leaves, dry long grass, straw.

    house waste;
    coffee ground, tea bags, vacummb
    more bout what not to put in but looking is best.

    hope it helps

  8. So far there about 40 L of household food waste (no meat or dairy) paper, lawn trimmings, horse compost ,and a load of brown garden waste..

  9. spot on. soon as the leaves start falling off the trees go out and grab them. bags and bags ram it full they realy rot down to a fine powder.
    go to the seaside and get some seaweed! farmers by the coast go down with trackters.
    while i was on holiday on beach loads turned up and moved from one end to other.

    realy stinks and attrackts flys but its best!

  10. Leaf mold (well decomposed leaves) are the shit!  Wish I had access to some.....  Depending on the tree, it can take years for it to decompose properly... oak leaves take the longest (high lignin content)

    I highly recommend checking out this thread (http://forum.grasscity.com/organic-growing/1241556-backyard-composting.html) for those interested in doing their own composting.

  11. after advice from the grow gurus i have filled my composter 50/50 %  comfery /compost  .

    in the small amount that had fell through i noticed little flys (fruit flys ?)

    why are they there and is it a problem ?

  12. You get all sorts in there mate i got little mite thing i got worms centpieds i think thats why you add a little neem cake to drive them out but my chilli test compost i made have been pest free.

    Tho i see all the critter as there for decomposing matter not love plants :) so when i need more soil i will use my home made stuff

  13. if there almost invisable. look like flying dust. look a seethrough brown colour. most likely type of fruit fly.
    life cycle is only 7days.
    have over 120 genes unlike our 36. older the species the more they have. (nothing to do with how smart or complex)
    maggots are almost invisible and will eat almost anything.

  14. Wont have neem . till my buildabox arrives probs about a week away..      the compost has a long way to go yet eh .its got two bins to get through before i get any use from it and will probs slow down or go dormant @ winter unless it hits the worm bin first..

  15. pretty sure they are friut flies  :mellow:   They can stay till the neem shows up. i will be adding a lot things to the bin just about everything from my soil mix will be going in there  :ey:  :ey:  jerry does it and thats good enough for me   :)  :)
