Germinating To Sprouting Issues

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Dasitmane, Aug 26, 2014.

  1. Past couple of seeds (different high quality strains) have been germinating just fine but they're not sprouting.

Most recent one (week since I started paper towel method ) still not up. It's in moist fox farm ocean forest soil. Temp is around 72-74F in a dark area. I checked the seed and the taproot has grown a few millimeters but that's about it

    What am I doin wrong

  2. Setup? Super vague post.

  3. Right now it's sitting in a small growing pot with a mix of 75% FFOF, 25% vermiculite/perlite (mixed 1:1 verm: perlite beforehand)

Right now it's sitting in a grow box with the lights off at 72-74F. I had it outside for a few days but I figured the soil is draining water too fast so i brought it inside.

Sorry, I'm new so not sure what info is relevant. Is that enough info?

Keep the lights on. As soon as it sprouts it wants light.
How far down are you planting the germinated seeds?

  5. I just make sure the root is covered with half the seed exposed to the atmosphere

  6. Your girl needs LIGHT!!! Sprouting needs to be done in the dark, but once you put it in soil, you should put it under lights for 24/0 or at least 18/6. Spray the top of the soil with water to keep her moist or water from the bottom. You won't disturb the seedling this way. It helps keep them steady until she has real 'feet' and she'll take off like a rocket when proper lighting is used! Good luck!  :gc_rocks:

just put your seeds in the soil and skip the paper towel nonsense..

why mess with a little tap root like that?

also don't dig around in there.. your seed will sprout in a few days.

  8. Ive found putting seeds in a cup of water with a dish on top till the seed sinks, then put them in the soil works best. Tried paper towel way and had no luck, cup of water so far had 100% sucess. Plus after you put them in soil after theyve been in the cup its only a day or 2 and they sprout out the soil
