Vegging 1 Small Plant With 1 10 Watt Led Bulb?

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by ST4YD33P, Aug 26, 2014.

  1. Hello.

I adore the technology of LED & all of their usefulness, but I just do not currently have the funds to afford a full set up.

For example, say I have one new plant... let's use this picture:

Say I want to veg that somewhere alone, with the correct ventilation, humidity & temperature.

Would one of these LED bulbs work in this reflector type dome hanging above the plant?

Here are the bulbs and reflector dome:

I apologize for the size of the pictures. :(

Would this work though if the light were in one of those work lights and hanging right above the small plant? I'm only looking for vegging maybe the first 4-5 weeks & then the plant would be put into the tent.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

    Thank you.

  2. ...hmm they might work. I'd go with a normal led bulb, like for household lighting.

I use these style bulbs with great results so far:

I pop the plastic domes off these. You can see what I'm growing under them if you click the link in my sig. I'm about halfway through my first flowering run with 5 of those bulbs.

They are 13.5w, I paid like $11 each I think at lowe's .. but a similar 7w bulb could veg out a plant to a foot tall or so. The lights you show have much weaker leds...that's why there's so many at such a low wattage. They might work...but I know the style I use work for sure. The seedling will let you know how well the bulb is working by how it grows/stretches within the first week. I think the normal spotlightstyle leds like the ones above will work alot better.

I've also done probably 100 clones under a 9w led.

I don't really like those clamp lights...they're not very secure and there's much better options imo. Alot of ppl mount a powerstrip on the wall and use the plugin style sockets like these:

you mentioned earlier about a blue led grow bulb a few posts back. I recently discovered that those led bulbs with the yellow dome/ring on them....they're actually blue leds on the inside!

...I posted some pics recently in my thread....click here if you want to check out the bulbs I'm talkin about :)

  11.
Thanks man. Oh, really? I pass those bulbs all the time at my local Wallmart. Maybe I'll have to check them out. :)

As for the 3 ladies, they are 28 days old today (9/15/2014). I have been taking some pictures along their journey. I will upload them a little later today. :)

Thank you Sade. The GSC was the worst to stretch. The other two didn't stretch so much. I'd say they still did though.
I hope you check back later to see their update! :) Thanks again bud.

They aren't under the 10 watt LED anymore, since they grew so big.

Their lights will be turning on soon & I will take some pictures.

Right now they are in week 5 of flower.

    Be back later!
