regular Quality Cannabis, What Is It?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Black13, Aug 25, 2014.

  1. I am on the tail end of my first grow. Before going right into my question/discussion i'll give you a little bit of background information.
I used bag seed in an old amazon box lined with aluminium foil. For lightting i used a  power strip and 3 cfl bulbs w/ socket adapters. No nutrients were added until half way through flowering, my watering schedule was irregular, and i have not used a timer for the entire process. I knew nothign about topping, FImming, LST when i started. most my bud is little 'popcorns' . At the end of the day it was a success because i actually grew something as little as it is. This bud is green and covered in crystals and orange pistils but has zero odor. The plant goes by the alias Juanita and may be referred to as such.

Now for the reason Im writing this today, i grew nice looking weed with very little knowledge. The weed these seeds came from was brown, dry, lacking crystals and hairs. so that brings us to the question as to what goes wrong in the growing process to get "regs' quality weed. mold? pest? was that simply just a fertilized female plant? severe nutrient burn? Do genes play a bigger part than care or vice versa?

I have made cannabis research a part time job this summer and this is one unanswered question that i have had since the start. Thank you for any insight

son of a fucking whore. hit a random key on accident and closed my browser somehow and lost what i typed

i just typed up a HUGE wall of text reply detailing everything you need to know about this, and how to increase yield with basically no real effort (cooking some decent soil, amended with cow/horse/chicken manure, earth worm castings, kelp, perlite) a simple recipe that will get you into growing some decent sized plants..

and also explaining that about 90 percent of the bag appeal, comes directly from how well the trim/dry/cure job was done....

if you grow a pot plant, to ripeness, it's gonna be some good smoke.. if the plant isn't healthy, it isn't gonna finish...since it's healthy, assuming it's a potent strain (and trust me all bagseed, especially mexican cartel weed has potential to be absolutely badass, they aren't idiots, and people there are legitimate advanced growers, the quality just takes a drastic dive because of horrible dry/cure/trim/shipping methods (because it's being smuggled, and it's about QUANTITY, not quality in that business... but you better believe those farmers head stash, is TOP NOTCH. there genetics, are TOP NOTCH.

dispensary weed is coddled from the growroom to the jar you walk out with it in... professionally cured for extended amounts of time (to bring about that perfect potency/taste/smokability)

anywho.. before i go on another text tyrade,

basically care, and processing methods make a much bigger difference in bag appeal than genetics

and yield wise, nutrients make a much bigger difference than anything..... you'll grow a 2-3 foot 10 gram plant with some soil in your yard thrown in a pot and watered semi-correctly..

you'll grow a 5-6 foot tall plant yielding 2-5oz per plant, with some basic soil recipes....

tweaking that, and adding other nutes or micros to feed the soil throughout the grow and the sky is the limit.. there's members on this site that pull 10lb's off a single plant...

there's users that pull 10oz off a 6 foot tall plant also... skys the limit..

grow to your size grow space, and maximize yield,.. take advantage of light dep and training techniques, and have a perpetual system, utilizing cloning and light dep, or growing indoors, you can stay perpetually harvesting buds, at your leisure,..

  3. The mexican cartels would plant acres of seeds. Both male and female. They did not give a fuck. Then it would be seeded, which reduces the THC content. They would remove all the make plants and then smash down the females. They would chop the stalks, maybe seperate by branches, throw the whole frikken thing into a compactor, make kilogram bricks, and ship it off to the states. This all took place in the 60's and 70's. Today, cartel weed is practically unheard of. I understand that the cartels now are looking into growing for the dispensaries If that makes any sense lol.

  4. cartel pot is still alive and well in my area.. seeded and unseeded..

  5. I miss the old landrace strains. Loved Thai sticks most, was one of the lucky ones who got them quite cheap. Also loved Colombian Redbud. The highs were very pure and intense. The pot I smoke today are muddy highs compared to them. I think people confuse potency with the quality of high.....
