Hammer Owners, I Have Some Questions.

Discussion in 'Vaporizers' started by chzdgg, Aug 25, 2014.

  1. So I've been looking to purchase a new vape for a while and I think I'm going to go with the Hammer. I've got a few things I'd like to run by you guys before I purchase it.

How often do you have to change the butane tank? About how much does it cost to buy a replacement?

My top two priorities are efficiency and the ability to take huge hits, how does the Hammer compare to other portables in these categories?

Have you had any experience with http://www.vaporseller.com ? Right now they have it on sale for 82.99!

  2. You fill it with butane from a can. The tank is fixed. I've only been through a couple small cans so far that I got for $8 a piece. Best portable I have used for big hits and one of the most efficient.

^^ What @[member="POTatato Head"] said. You can also check out my review. Also, go to v8pe.com as they're having a 20% off sale (Make sure you drop in the coupon code), and you can get a Hammer starter kit for $74.99 I think.

To give you the short, its efficient... I use between .1 - .2g in each stem and it gets me right. Its also the hardest hitting portable that I've come across and I've tried quite a few (and own 3 that I absolutely love, the Hammer being one of them, and my daily driver). If I want a thick tasty vapor cloud... I know The Hammer won't disappoint me.

  4. Great review, Ive got a few more questions about the butane. So im guessing that the butane powers the flame which heats the chamber and herbs in it. Does it taste like youre inhaling any butane with your hits? Why did you take out the butane it came with and switch it out?

    Thanks ren

  5. Butane basically heats up a stainless tube that the air passes through. You shouldnt be able to taste an butane as the butane exhaust leaves through the top and the air intake comes in through the back. This means 100% convection hits every time as the butane heats the tube that heats the air that heats the weed. Take out is probably a bad way to refer to what ren did. You can empty the butane by purging the butane out of the tank so more of a "let out". Ren did that to make sure high quality butane was all that would be ran through his hammer if I remember correctly.

Exactly... Its just a little OCD thing for me really when it comes to the butane. Its kind of like a new glass piece, where you don't want schwag to touch it and just KB. I'm sure a little of the stock butane wouldn't have hurt but hey, I don't want schwaggy butane in my pipes lol.

  7.
As far as the butane smell or taste goes, see what @[member="POTatato Head"] said because thats basically it. I don't taste any butane 99% of the time but sometimes I'll catch a whiff of it in my nose when I'm vaporbonging but it doesn't affect the taste. Also, Head Tools is sending me a prototype gasket kit which is supposed to stabilize the heat exchanger and eliminate for sure, any butane taste that may seep in.

It doesn't happen very often, but when it does its barely noticeable. Also take into account that I'm using high end butane thats filtered (7 times I think lol), the lower end the butane the more prominent the smell will be in general. Low end butane can also leave a residue on the fuel lines in the Hammer, hence the purge and fill.

  8. Alright thanks guys, Ive decided that I will be ordering it tomorrow.

Make sure you listen to that the first time you use it.

And get it from v8pe.com... better discount there if you like :)

It arrived in the mail today! I couldn't believe how small it is, about the same size as my Samsung Galaxy. The stems came with screens already in them, much to my surprise.

  11. It is surprisingly small. I expected it to be probably twice as large as it was. If you need any help just hit me up man

  12.
Yeah they're not too hard to in there. But it is a nice touch that they include them. And follow @[member="POTatato Head"] 's advice if you have questions. He is.... a Hammer Jedi.

  13. I've only heard of hammer jedis in folklore....I never knew we had one among us....

  14. Will do. Ill make a post with my thoughts here after I try it out later.

Mmmhm... @[member="POTatato Head"] his name is... Vaporize out of the Hammer, he will.

  17.
Its a great little portable. I strongly recommend getting a custom glass stem as they're thicker than the standard lock-on's. Also, don't forget about the glass on glass connector. I'm looking to try out the screenless GonG they make.

  18. That's cool I just got a MFLB a couple of weeks ago and then I read your write up on the hammer and I want it for home and camping.

  19. Wrong thread, I came to give advice on the tool commonly used by craftsmen and other construction specialists to drive objects such as nails, spikes, and wedges into various surfaces. :bongin:

  20. Alright so I just finished my first Hammer session and Im pretty baked. Since Ive never used a manual vape before I wasn't quite sure how to get it to the right temperature so I just tried holding the trigger longer until I saw vapor. Im guessing theres some technique to this that ill just have to get used to. Im a little confused by a couple of other things.

Is the flame supposed to come through of the top of the unit for like a half of a second every time that I pull the trigger?

What does the sliding lever with the plus and minus signs do? Ive read the instructions twice and it is nevre mentioned.
