Soil/nutrients

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by SocoGrow, Aug 23, 2014.

  1. So I'm wanting my next grow to be all organic. I have been using rabbit poop as a major nutrient for my plants but I don't know that my plants are getting the right ratio of nutrients.
My next grow I plan to grow 6 plants in peat moss Pearlite and Vermiculite
On a 1:1:1 ratio. My question is what can I use in this mixture along with my rabbit poop that will keep my plants happy and at the right ratio.

If I'm not making sense please feel free to ask questions.

I'm using a 400w mh/hps light in a 3sq ft area. I have a 6 inch inline exhaust fan and a box fan for the foliage.

Here are the ratios for rabbit poop.

  3. add  25percent earth worm casings to that mix, then water with your manure tea.

Do you think I'll have a problem with Ph from the rabbits urine?

Also how many cups of poop per gallon pot?

  5. i wouldn't use the poo in the soil.i would put a cup in some fine mesh fabric and soak it in a gallon of water for a day or two, then use the water and discard the poo.

  6. So using that ratio 5 cups of poo per 5 gallon bucket of water.

Do I need to dilute the solution in water before applying to my plants or just feed it straight. Also how often with the tea every watering every other?

  7. use search function ,i've seen other "bunny people" on gc. could probably find more specific info. you could also check out compost teas.you need to experiment and find what works for you.remember under doing things won't kill your plants like over doing it will. if you feed alfalfa pellets to rabbits they could also be used before running through the bunnies.

  8. Drop the vermiculite, the peat moss retains more than enough moisture on its own. Use some other form of aeration. I use perlite myself, but there are other things that work well. Depends on what you can locate locally, just not vermiculite.

I've no information on rabbit manure, but there is info in the forum. A search will pull it up.

  9. I use rabbit scat and am a big advocate of it. Used outdoors it is best used mixed in the soil and as a weekly soil drench. 2 cups soaked in 3-4 gals of good water makes for a nice concentrate of 2 cups per gal of irrigation water. Indoors you should limit no more than a 1/2 cup mixed directly in the soil for a 3-5 gal container. Use a much more diluted version of 1/4 per gal weekly "IF" you choose to use it as such indoors. Keep the bucket loosely covered and stir it every time you walk past it. It should keep for weeks and with no foul odor. If it starts stinking dump it on your compost pile and start over. Simple enuff really.

Depending on the freshness of the scat the urea could cause a flash of ammonia burn so be careful with fresh scat. I recommend it be dried completely before use. I used it fresh on outdoor ornamentals and it fried 'em - outdoors! Note that letting it dry completely will not volitize off all the nitrogen contribution rather only the ammonical portion in the scat so there will still be some form of N contribution in the end. Fresh is too risky.

Less is best until you get the feel for the scat you're dealing with IMO but as an additive to an otherwise simple ammendment profile I say rabbit scat is on the stage with "the best" of all scats there are. Especially alfalfa fed ones. As the man said earlier you could just use the alfalfa pellets sold as rabbit food but that's a different process than that described above.

Good luck and use that shit man! It's good shit fo sho!

  10. Alright I just mixed up my soil 1 part perlite, 1 part peat moss, and 1 part earthworm castings.

I think I'm going to make tea with the rabbit poo.
When should I start using it tho? From seed? Or when the veg cycle starts.

  11. Also curious will the rabbit poop have enough phosphorus to support healthy bud growth? Or will I have to supplement during flower.

  12. You shouldn't need to supplement anything in particular to be used as a "bloom booster" in a healthy organic garden.

  13. Have you added any dry amendments to your soil mix? You need to at least add oyster shell.

Add 1tbs per gal of kelp,neem,oyster,crab...sub your rabbit shit for neem if you have to. Then add 4tbs of glacial rock dust per gal.

Then you can feed your soil some rabbit shit 'tea' every once in a while.
