How To Find An Electrician?

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by Mr Green Thumb, Aug 22, 2014.

  1. you could just lie and say you're running some high wattage stuff in there...like a big air conditioner, welder (lol) , tanning bed? , dehumidifier. Just tell em you need an extra circuit in there cuz the breaker keeps flippin. I don't know how to find an electrician that's 'cool' though...just online ones :)

Or if you're using it strictly to grow in, can you just use the plugins from the washer and dryer..they can usually handle quite a bit of electricity. Would that be an option? My friend's trailer has 110/20 amp for the washer and I think a 220/20amp for the dryer. There's also the 220 from the oven if that's an option.

....definitely safer to just get it wired properly of course..I'm just throwing out ideas.

  2. Honestly shouldn't fucking matter what you're doing with it, the electrician's job is to do it and get paid, not ask questions.  Would def be tricky if you're renting though...

  3. You need it for your grandfathers medical equipment. You will be running CPAP, oxygen, and vitals monitoring devices while charging UPS back-up devices.

  4. Go to the hydro shop and ask them for a reference. That's how I found mine :)

This is a good idea. My recommendation would be saying you're buying it as a work trailer and you're gonna be running welders and shit.
Those fuckers eat a looooot of juice.

  6. If you're in the NJ/DE/PA area, I have an electrician for you. Message me if anyone needs one.

  7. May as well learn to do power after the first time, watch and learn and after that you can do it yourself.

I can now wire anything I need.

  8. Here's something logical.

IF THE ELECTRICIAN IS ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE DOING, DON'T HIRE HIM.

A good electrician won't snoop into your business. You tell him what you want, he does it. The only questions he should be asking are about what you want and safety.

A good electrician only needs to know the load required not what it is for. I grow our peppers in the house for my wife's chili, nothing illegal about that.

The pic isn't my setup, just a recent job done by the electrician I know.

I've been thinking of how I am going to get an electrician here without worrying...Lol...thanks for your response...So basic not sure why I didn't think of it, lol...

  12. Haha yea, the guys at my shop are some cool dudes... honest, knowledgeable, and they throw a party every year where they give away free shit. The kind of shop that looks out for it's customers, which is uncommon these days.

    Cheers!! :bongin:

I build custom homes so I know quite a few electricians, most will not ask questions... Because they have set up similar things for their buddies lol. Electricians smoke a lot of pot bro, at least up here in Canada. If anything else, you may have a new friend at the end of the day. A couple nugs here, some free work there... Who Needs money?

All jokes aside, it isn't any of their business. For all they know you are a legal grower, or want to grow some veggies to feed your family. Or running a bitcoin server, or some high power usage machine. Good electricians don't care what you do, they just ensure that you are able to do it safely
