Two Questions Regarding full Plant Extraction

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by WayneC, Aug 21, 2014.

  1. We're currently in the process of growing our own high CBD plants and was wondering a couple of things:

    1) Are the roots, main trunk and stems of the plant all extracted into the oil or is it better to just try chopping it up and juicing/eating them separately?

    2) We were thinking of doing an oil extraction of half of the plant and either juicing or eating the rest raw in order to take advantage of the un-carboxylated acids of the full plant (CBDA and THCA). Aside from potential taste/texture issues, is it better to juice or simply eat the other half?

  2. If you've got all the material, and can do whatever you want, save the flowers and most of the sugar trim (the smaller leaves that are the start of the flowers) and make an oil out of those. You want as little organic material as possible, so making sure you have only resinous material to start with is key.

As for the "water" parts of the plant, the leaf and stalk and roots, they have some cannabinoids, but not enough to excuse ruining your oil over. It would be best to just add those cannabinoids to your juicing. Then you get the best of everything. Truly jealous :)

  3. Thanks! The main reason we're doing it this way is because the dispensaries around us have the typical supply issues and rather than having to hunt for what we can find when we start running low, I'd much rather have total control over the dosages.

Our plants just broke ground last week, so this isn't happening anytime soon

  4. Patients should absolutely be able to control their own meds, and when you don't have safe access, having resources to do that is really amazing. Good luck!!
