Thoughts On Michael Brown And Officer Wilson

Discussion in 'Politics' started by ProGMO, Aug 21, 2014.

  1. I am surprised no one has opened up this discussion.

What are your thoughts on the Michael Brown shooting?

This one will be hard to keep the emotion out so moderators and ADMIN please be flexible on how to handle people who post here. Outside blatant racist or hate filled comments let it flow!

My first impression was shock and utter disgust. Mostly towards the police.

I have had a great relationship with most law enforcement officials. being in the military and about to retire after 32 years I feel insulated from what I see as unwarranted hatred for the LEOs. Speaking with a neighbor who is a cop, he said about 70% of his own officers were guys who were picked on in high school and are taking revenge on people now they have a badge. they have become the new bully. I was not expecting that from the SWAT member. We will have at it when we do a barbeque later in a couple weeks.

On to Michael Brown (MB) and Officer Wilson (OW). If what I am hearing now is true, MB's sympathy may have reached it peak. Reports that OW had an orbital blowout from MB beating him could change the dynamics. having seen these eye injuries in IED (big roadside bombs) and vehicle accidents they are no joke. The impacts are so strong you are very close to your skull being crushed. The orbital blowout is all the bones that protect your eye socket have been crushed to the point of being free floating.

Where does that leave us? MB at the point he struck an officer is a felon and it is the duty of an officer to apprehend. They are allowed to shoot in the back on a fleeing felon, I learned this during my talk with the police.

Will Eric Holder go visit OW who is chartered and sworn in to enforce the DOJ  laws federally mandated to his officers across the nation. Did OW just shoot a guy because he could?

MB's family, what a tragedy? This young man was heading off to college! Was he just a thug who almost made it out of a life of poverty? Did he just screw up by trying to impress friends? I am

All I know at this point is race in America see worse than I have ever seen it? I hope it is not true and I am just a victim of watching too much news. I still see lots of polarization. I have been back in the US for a year, all my friends in Oman (lived there 3 years 2010-2013) I bet are shaking their heads at us.

let us hope after all this we can work out, for a country I have loved so much with all its faults my hope is we evolve for the better, not the worse.

  2. There are enough threads about this in Pandoras Box, its starting to rival Israel v Palestine.

  5. Think he was an e-thug that translated into the real world? MB was a huge human being. If I had to fight him my first instinct would be to find a gun! If he did the damage to OW's face like that he was an enormously powerful young man. He had pro football strengths!

  7. When the heavily armed Justin Bourque when on an RCMP killing spree in Moncton NB, the cops went on a man hunt that lasted almost 2 full days (I think).  The guy killed three cops on purpose, not radomly.  Targetted police killings.  The second they had him cornered, the murderer came out with his hands up, in full surender.  They could have shot the prick, but didn't.  He just killed three of their own and the RCMP knew he was armed and dangerous so a bullet to the head would not appear unreasonable to the public.

All they did was arrest him and now he's been charged with murder.

Oh yea im a big guy 6'3" 230# and I would not want to tangle with him. Pepper spay will stop a grizzly bear.

I dont think cops who have guns should be chicken shits and be trigger happy. If they cant take the heat they need to find a different job.

Imagine just having your face crushed in on top of the guy who just did that restarting the attack, coming back after you. I am sure you would just turn the other cheek since the right side is mush.

Your story has nothing to do with this but had a cool ending. You guys let him kill 3 police, in the US we kill them before they kill. I like our system better.

It is starting to look like the cop was saving his life. this is early on so I want to jump to judgement like everyone else. LOL!

  10.
The cops didn't allow the guy to kill the officers.  That's silly.  He was hell bent on killing them and he succeeded.

The story starts after the killings, not before like you implied.

Cops have to remain professional no matter what.  That's their duty and hopefully their training too.

    I'll go away now :)

  11. So you ignored the part where a huge-normous individual just crushed your face and was coming back after you. Why did you ignore that?

  12. It is front page news here in Europe. The cops are being portrayed as trigger happy lunatics.

Talk now of contractors being brought in, is that true ?

  13. not heard of the contractors. the race tensions have to be uber high in that town. had a black cop shot him I doubt we would be talking about this. the more I am hearing the less sympathetic I am becoming. Now these groups are talking of rioting if they do not indict this cop and find him guilty. the irony of the lynch mob mentality by blacks cannot go unnoticed.

Unlike the cop who will have the benefit of the courts, blacks never had such luck back in the lynching days ...

    Wtf are you talking about?

  15. No one should have any rational thoughts about this.

The state's attorney doesnt even have thoughts about this yet....know why? Evidence hasn't been examined yet..

  16. I came here to say something like this.

Police involved shootings happen every day. I'm sorry but nothing makes this one special. The pepertual media coverage only serves to stir up tensions in Ferguson. Its been a great distraction.

I can see that personal bias seems to have already formed a story as to what happened that night. New information that contradicts said bias will probably not be well received.

What I think about it: Not much. Its been 99% media hype, 1% actual information.

People: don't buy into the hype. Turn off CNN and fox and MSNBC and just smoke some weed, it will all become clear.

  17. IF it played out the way is being told then IMO the shooting was justified. Huge guy, physical assault, struggle for a cops gun, gun shot in car, perp comes charging back at cop who he just physically attacked and struggled with over a gun, cop starts shooting DEFENDING himself and kills huge guy. IF this is how played out then the cop was right in defending himself.

If the perp was any other race this would likely not have made international headlines. If the cop was black and shot some huge trailerpark  white guy doing the same things it would likely be considered justified.

    That's my opinion.

the rioting is their choice if they do not get their way. the mentality is ironic isn't it? that is what the fuch I am talking about, sorry it escaped you. and how long before more people die because they choose to riot?

just to make sure you are still not lost. If they do not get justice the way they want it, they will riot and make the current riots look like a walk in the park. In other words until they get justice their way, there is no justice. see how ironic that is. Courts be damned is what they are saying. Are we seeing eye to eye now or will I have to stoop a little lower?

  19. What do you expect them to do ?

Kneel and thank the massa for shooting them ?

The more riots in the US the better, it is refreshing to see people standing up and giving two fingers to authority, if only there were more who would do the same...

We can protest here without riots, the US sets a good example of allowing peaceful protests. Europe really has the best riots, I think they (Missouri are learning from the thugs over there., you guys have them once a week. I would not wish them on anyone, even the. Here is what is so stupid, they destroy their own shops and property. Assholes come in from across the US and then leave. The riots also keep revitalization projects and new businesses away. Sorry that you like to see the black communities self destruct. But then again we all know how accepting Ur a peeins' are of blacks. Spain is moderately the exception to me.
