Help With Vaporizing

Discussion in 'Vaporizers' started by irisfields, Aug 19, 2014.

  1. Hello all,

I have recently obtained a medical MJ card and I am very inexperienced with using a Vaporizer.  My understanding was that it would be better for my lungs.  I am over 60 years old and while it helps me tremendously with the symptoms of my health issues I am wondering if it is really worth it.

I have a Vapor Brothers hands free, have watched all the videos, read instructions and while I do get tremendously high I cough out a lung each time.  I have tried edibles and they are not strong enough.  I was wondering if perhaps I am doing something wrong.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I'm pretty new as well. I use the Extreme Q and have played around with the temperatures a bit. I was vaping at around 200 C and coughed until I thought I was gonna die! I reduced my temp to 185 and that seems to have helped a lot. Only one or two mild coughs each time.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

Sounds like you might need to filter the vapor through a bong. The water helps smooth out the vapor. Hopefully @[member="lwien"] chimes in on this thread. He might be able to help you tremendously.

EDIT: Ok, I just did a little googling and found this link.

If you scroll down about 1/3 of the way you'll see Vapor Brothers branded "hydrator's". Basically they're bongs that hook directly to the Vapor Brothers box. One of those should help you out a bunch but they're a bit pricey. There might be a lower priced way to filter that vape, but hopefully someone else could post an alternative solution :)

  4.
Do you have access to a bong?

  5. Lower temps = smother hit  (more thc less cbn)

  6. Thanks all, I tried lowering the temperature, while it helped my lungs are still a mess.  I don't have access to a bong, but I am sure I could find one.  If that works perhaps I will go ahead and spend the money for the bong attachment for the vaporizer.  It works so well, I don' want to have to give it up.  I think I might give tinctures a try.

    Thanks again.

  7. Dont give up yet. Definently try out the bong thing if you can. Depending on your location you should be able to find something cheap enough to make it worth trying out. If not you can always look online. Check this thread out for a whole bunch of links to cheap glass.

Ioffer is a really good place to go to find cheap stuff from inside the states if you dont want to deal with any shipping from china.

Have you tried pulsing your hits? What I mean is basically repeatedly taking tiny hits while breathing in air in between. The extra added oxygen should help your lungs out a lot. It is something  I recommend to people I am vaporizing with when their lungs start to get irritated from it.

  8. Definitely +1 on the bong. I've found myself vaporbonging ALOT more because of the smoothness of the hits. And to really smooth it out try faucet hot water :)

Credit goes to @[member="lwien"] for teaching me that technique lol!

  9. Try playing around with the temperature a bit.  When I first started I vaped my Volcano at 170 F but now I vape it at 230 F.

Also play around with inhaling, try slow and long hits?

I wouldn't suggest bongs as pulling the smoke (even though the water cools it down) might be too much excertion on your lungs and make things worse.  I would stay away from burning your herb as much as possible :)

  10. Aqualabs has a vapor brothers hydrator with the attachment you need to hook your vape up to it for 120$

    Hey there,
I have had a vaporbrothers hands free for a few years and in order to get hits that aren't too harsh:
    1) Like everyone else said, invest in the attachment for vapor bonging and buy a small glass on glass bong you like (14 mm) and start vaping through that, it will make a big difference.
    2) Try not to exceed one or two o clock on the temp of the vape dial...I generally vape around 12 o clock with my vapor brothers, stir after 10 or so hits then move it to 1 or 2.
    3) Save your vaped bud! I save mine and once I get an ounce I make a batch of brownies that have a nice stony effect.

  12. share some of that chronic!

  13. awesome post OP!! all the answers are really good too, keep up the awesome work everyone :metal:

as far as smoothing out the hit goes, i would definitely try adjusting the temp on your vaporizer. lower it to the lowest setting and try it out. there is a little finesse as far as getting it dialed in but don't give up. start on lowest setting and work your way up. don't worry about getting high so much as getting the hit to be nice and smooth. once you have the temp where it feels nice then start taking some big riffs off of it  and go for getting high. you might have to increase the temp to a higher setting then you like but again, it is about getting it to that perfect place. don't give up, you're so close!!
