Flavors?

  1. Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
But anyways, I had asked a friend of mine at one point, "how do you get weed that is like vanilla or strawberry kush. Like does the strain just have that scent/flavor? "
He had told me that when it's growing you mix the flavor extract with the water you use. And it'll get that flavor.
I was curious as to how accurate that was.

  2. Indo,

There are certain strains marketed after their natural "flavor". Some of these strains include Lemon Kush, Blueberry Kush, White Strawberry Skunk, the list goes on and on.

However, there is some (highly debated) truth to what your friend told you. I have read tens of articles about flavoring cannabis before harvest. Allegedly, in the final week or so of flowering or after your last flush cycle, the grower is to add a concentrated extract of the desired flavor to their water supply. The thought is this - after flushing and letting the soil completely dry, the plant will be starved of nutrients and quite thirsty to boot! So, when the plant gets the growers flavored water concoction, it drinks as much as it can, cause the roots to intake some of the sugars as well. This process has the potential to add some flavor to the smoke after drying and curing the buds. It should be noted, however, that this is not a guaranteed method. If you really want some nice flavor smoke, purchase strains which have already been noted for their fruity properties.

  3. I see.
Thanks for the info, I figured he was trying to bull shit me lol
But yea, I think I'd rather just get strains with the properties there than to try and do it myself like that. I'd hate to ruin such a great product.

  4. You're friend is full of shit and so is the idea. Think about it this way. We dump some smelly nasty ass shit in our soils and hydro reservoirs. Yet our plants never come out smelling or tasting like it. Why is that? So the plant decides it doesn't want it's buds to smell and taste like fish shit but it does want to make that grape juice you poured in travel up to the buds?

Think about it this way. Can you water tomatoes with vanilla flavored water and get vanilla flavored tomatoes?

  7. I use Flavor Jars.. They are easy to use and it only takes like 2-3 hours. They are cool cause I can use the jar to stash my stash anywhere, they fit good in the back of the sock drawer and in my jacket pocket when I want to take it with me.
