I've got to come up with $1413 by august 26th so I don't get kicked out of college. It sucks.

I know it's not a lot of money, but only 1 weeks notice for this?!?

On a positive note my books this semester are going to only cost me like $75. Which is a steal in terms of text books. And I need some general classes so this semesters home work will be fairly easy, ill just be taking "social behaviors, exploring the humanities, advanced chemistry lab and american national government."

I'm going to farther my career as a chemist, I have some pretty good job offers for when I'm done with school. Which is wicked.

I'll be working with a company to make a new medication and do tons of research on up and coming medications and help start an idea with the direction and chemical structure of said medication. It's with a respectable company I can't disclose right now. But when I sign the work contract I will update you guys!

Sorry, but I'm not rich so having a debt of 1413, sprung on me at such short notice sucks. All I keep thinking about is not being able to succeed in life because I didn't save more money... It bums me out thinking my career could stop before it even began, over some funky ass dollar bills..

    Ohwell
    , typical American problem eh?

  2. Um student loans?

  3. Sucks that only the rich can go to school

I did one year of school, said fuck it, paid off my debt and never went back.

  4. Student loans prevent a lot of people from ever being out of debt. Have to major in things that make money or else you could be paying the loans off for most of life

  5. You should do everything in your power to finish college. If you don't you can be seriously limiting your future self

  6. Student loans also help people become succesfull, and it depends how you handle your collage experiance. Dont go to collage if you plan on slacking off all day and partying, on the real, you sincerly are there for an education, i can party much harder and more fun for 1 20th of a standard collage tuition, if you make your best out of collage and go in to a good field its worth it

  7. Just have to choose that good field. I feel like majors in some subjects aren't worth it.

  8. I feel ya hard. I gotta pay a grand. But by my spring semester. They decide the new cost of college is gonna be higher every year but your scholarships that would have originally given you a free ride (first year I only had 5,000) in student loans for a 40,000 dollar a year school. Now I'm starting to have to pay.

And guess what? -I- can't borrow any more money. One of my parents would have to for me. And if said parent will not? I am fucked. Because their credit would have to be denied for me to apply for more loans.

Oh and I also have 5 classes and 3 are science. I have to carry such a large class load to finish in time. Not cause i dropped classes, I am actually ahead in credits. General class requirements make it almost impossible to graduate in 4 years.

So now I gotta work my ass off in school and work as many hours as I can so I don't hve to work at a shitty job the rest of my life.

Sorry man I really sympathize with you. Really have the pleasure of knowing that you will have real opportunities if you can get over these hurdles many of your peers may not have the same guarantees.

  9. Everyone's been in that boat my friend and it does suck, very much =\\ A very wise man Warren Buffet once said, "Buy Buildings, Not Shoes".

Do you want to be a follower and buy the nicest shoes you can and waste money on the fads, or will you be a leader and save your money and only spend when it's a long-term investment or something that will offer you a return.

Keep your head up kid, it'll come.

  10. Yes. I have also been a typical American college student with loans and simple general classes.

I am like you. Let's discuss me now.

  11. I have $32,000 in debt....my parents didn't pay for anything.

I worked a full time job, an unpaid internship, and 15-18 credit semesters.

It can be done, just buckle down and do it for yourself. If you dont take a bullshit major that gets you a BA instead of a BS you can pay off your debt in 10-15yrs. That's assuming you make the minimum payments and have no career advancement.

  12. Well.... People have to understand that college isnt all fun and games. I know plenty people who are currently bullshitting around in college and those people will run into problems in their futures.
Also, you have to be cautious about what field you study in. Some fields have better percentages pf getting a job than others. But alot of majors provided wont get you shit after you graduate. Just gotta know how to play it right

  13. And this is a load of straight up bullshit. Its not about money its about what u love to do. I never went to school and havent seen the first "limitation" in my life due to not going. To op..... idk man maybe go beg to the parentals? Will they really just boot u out like that?

  14. I'm sorry that I have to do this but it's college. College.

    College.

    College.....

that really really sucks that kids can't afford college these days... i've seen that change in even my generation... i went to college in 04-07, and back then the pell grant system would cover the whole thing, with a little bit of cash left over (about a grand a semester, that if you were nifty enough, you could get away with not even working while going to school) (it was a meager existence, but you could do it,..shit not today)

i managed to get my associates and an IT cert with less than a couple grand in student loans (actual student loans, not pell grant, i got lazy and the last couple semesters had a pretty rough workload, so i took out the supplement loans for the last year)

i'm not even using it right now though lol... working at a casino, hope to eventually get into there IT department, but right now i'm in food and beverage... oh well... jobs a job, benefits are incredible at casinos.. covers the pain pills you'll surely need being on the floor for 12 hours at a time dealing with half drunk to completely shitblasted casino people...

  16. Probably not you best call...

How so? College helps, but it isn't necessary to be successful at all. Plenty of decent job and careers that don't require a college education. Some people don't know if it's right for them until after they try it.

I personally loved the quality education I got, but hated everything else. Not a people person at all, so living in dorms was one of the worst experiences I've had and I decided to go a different route after my first year.

  18. College isnt about a degree. It's about learning to think critically, analyze situations from angles a lament might not consider, and work in groups.

The degree is just a ticket to get through.

  19. well statistically your argument is flawed. A bachelors degree will earn you on average a million dollars more over a life time than someone without one. Master's degree's and professional degree's earn even more. Do you know how much weed I can buy with $1 million dollars......ALOT
