I have been trying to explain this to people for years but it seems that they would rather believe in a singular entity with mysterious powers or whatever. It kinda pisses me off because while people are out hunting for some secret organization they are ignoring the fact that the people responsible for the shitty conditions of the world are right in front of them. Mainstream media has cashed in on this image and that is why there are so many rappers talking about it and all that stuff. I prefer to focus my anger towards the politicians with crooked agendas, the media outlets who back them, and the people too lazy to do anything about it; not some made up organization that somehow controls the world. And another thing, I say this as a musician and a metal head.... music will always try to use 'shocking' imagery like the Illuminati. Rappers talk about it because it sells and gives them some kind of revolutionary image. This isn't much different from the first metal bands to write songs about Satan, now there are a small group of metal musicians that are actually Satanists (usually Lavayan satanists, learn the difference if you don't know) but 9 times out of 10 the bands just use the imagery because it is fun. I can imagine that the same thing applies to rappers; now something tells me lil' wayne is too dumb to believe in an Illuminati but he has realized (or his marketing team has realized, fuck mainstream music) that the image sells.
