I was talking to a friend and wonder how drug testing goes in your states. For instance if work piss test u can they fire u? People who are sick and in pain and onprobation/porole are they allowed to use and grow pot? Just curious about these points becuase u never hear them talked about on the news or the media.
your job can fire you if they see thc in your system even if you're in WA or CO, it's up to the company. though some are lenient others zero tolerance. to grow/consume youd need a card for your ailments I'm pretty sure and it depends on the state laws
People on probation/parole, have forfeited most or all of their "rights". As for the rest, Wall-mart has a civil case against them for firing a employee for failing a urine test after being informed that he was a registered medical cannabis patient. New Mexico is trying to pass a law requiring insurance companies to recognize and treat mmj as any other recognized prescription medicine, even requiring them to reimburse patients for mmj. I'm in Washington, and my understanding is anyone can get a card that has a qualifying medical condition. I know of many felons with cards. As to the probation/parole I have a friend on supervised probation and he has had to spend the weekend in jail 2 times now for dirty ua's for weed in the last couple months.
I believe this is being contested in CO right now, though Im not sure it has much of a chance of supporting patients' rights. Basically, nowadays even cigarette smokers can be fired, if you knew the company was against those practices when you were hired. In CA, there is already legal precedent that says the company has the right to fire you, even as a medical user.
Some jobs you should not be high for lol. There s some shit you can kill people real fucking quick. But office work and other non dangerous jobs it probably just makes you focus. I knew a manager at a research company that was high as Fuck all the time and was more productive than anybody. Got to the point he would smoke in the parking lot and bs with the owner while he smoked. SPinach for the brain for that dude. I also seen some crazy shit drilling in the field with dudes super high almost killing people. Watched a dude knock out the center of a chimney and drop the top on his foot right after I told him not to. In my state if you have a card its illegal for them to punish you for being positive on a test. However they can fire someone if that person shows up to work impaired
not here in washington state. no not on parole/probation. u get caught u go to jail. also, u fail ua test at work, come up positive u will most likely lose your job. just because the marijuana may be legal (kinda) your work has the right to hire and fire people at will
