New Toker With Question About Weed Smell

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Westside84, Aug 16, 2014.

  1. Hello New Toker Here

I got a half an ounce for 100 bucks of some weed and it wasnt half bad, but its lost its smell. It doesnt smell like Weed anymore. It got it on the 8th and grinded half on the Friday and on Saturday I grinded up the second half in my coffee grinder. I cleaned it and there must of been a little water in there, because some of the weed was wet. I let it dry overnight and it smoked good. It got me high. I dont see any mold on it, but it did lose its smell and I dont know why. Im just wondering if I should just toss it or keep smoking it.

  2. Invest in a small mason jar to keep your weed fresh. :smoke:

  3. cool thanks. so you think this is still good to smoke? I still have 4 grams worth. Would hate to chuck that. Mason Jar it is..

  4. Why would you pregrind your pot? Don't ever do that, it makes it dry out quicker and lose smell.

  5. I just planned to roll joints with it. Makes it easier for me i guess. If i had a pipe it would be a different story. When I get my next half Ill give that a try.

I would most definitely smoke it! Don't throw it out. Grinding your weed before hand does make it dry our quicker, though.

Also, if it's dry, you can throw it in a jar or a bag with an orange peel, let it sit for a day, and it'll be nice and moist again

    Happy toking!

  7. only grind what you're gonna immediately use. thats how your smell was lost, you grinded up weed and didnt quickly use it

  8. Thanks guys.. ill try that orange peel trick. Im a newbie to this world and living in Central Florida, the bud looks really crappy and expensive. That 100 for a  half was a stroke of luck, but it is pretty good. Ill go back to him, but what Im getting here isnt green. My boy in NYC gets some good stuff and its green. All ive ever had was brown weed.

  9. Just a bit dry as the others posted. Be careful with the orange trick, lots of folks goof it up and cause mold to grow all over. Having bud already ground up is handy but you'll lose that aroma you get from breaking into a nug the first time.

  10. it lost its smell (and probably some potency) because you ground it all up at once. And it was wet and you dried it.

If it gets you lifted, smoke it! I wouldn't throw away any flower unless I would feel absolutely nothing after taking a seriously packed toke or two.

That shouldn't reduce the potency! Not unless you manhandle it (wipe it on cloth, paper, towels, etc) while it was wet, and I'm willing to bet that Westside84 was already face-palming after wetting his bud and probably took extra care not to muck it up any more.

Also if pot lost potency after getting wet, then is water curing is an elaborate anti-pot strategy (orchestrated by the government, obviously) to get stoners to reduce the potency of their own herbs??  :smoking:  :D

  12. When I pregrind I just grind 1-2g and put it into little glass vials and it keeps the smell pretty well.

  13. Ok thanks for the heads up. I'll have to read up a bit more on water curing. I know they did that with thai weed and an unmentionable back in the early 80's.

  14. Keep your buds intact until you're ready to smoke it, them break it up. Air tight containers and smelly proof bags are my favorite ways to store my bud and keep its smell.
