First Time Diy Aeroponic

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Grow Journals' started by smoosh, Aug 15, 2014.

  1. Hello everyone! I am new to hydro and still decided to build my own aeroponic setup. I basically followed "stinkbud" method of aeroponic. Hopefully with this journal I will receive the proper guidance to be successful. :)

    I have:

    *10 gallon rubbermaid tote.
    *18 gallon rubbermaid tote reservoir.
    * 360 degrees EZ sprayers 1 min on and 5 min off.

    *Ven Tech 6" inline fan and carbon filter
    *Two Vent Tech 4" duct fans
    *Air pump with two air stones 7.8L/min
    * 3 AcuRite temp & humidity monitor.
    * Eco Plus 594 submersible pump
    * Submersible pump filter
    * Pure Blend Pro nutrientes.
    * 600w HPS/ MH
    * T5 2ft 4 lamps
    * 2 inch net pots and neoprene collars

  2. On Friday August 8 I started a seedism applejack seed on wet paper towels. Sunday it was showing a white tip already and I put it on a jiffy pot soaked in plain tap water with 150 ppm and 6.5 PH with white tip facing down. I took of a corner pice of the jiffy to cover the seed lightly.

  3. I added to water in the reservoir on Wednesday per instructions Hormex liquid concentrate and superthrive. I followed the instructions for seeds and seedlings. This was recommended on the book "Grow Great Marijuana by Edward Logan". I also added one tbs of hydrogen peroxide to reservoir.

    This was taken Saturday day nigh just now.

  5. Following. Remember not to overwater your plant. Keep it moist not soaked. I think you've got two options when it comes to low pressure Aero. Either you go with a sterile root zone or you add in some beneficial fungi etc. I run beneficials myself.

    I'll be keeping an eye out

  6. Also are your totes light proof... it doesn't look like it. Get some radiator roll and some spray adhesive to help with water temps and light getting into your res. Cover your lids with it also. To keep temperature steady.

  7. That's some good feed back! I have a roll of mylar that I can wrap the tote and lid in. Thank you! I will post pictures.

  8. What's your water temperature sitting at? And is that the fluorescent fixture on them?

  9. Something is not right. Shouldn't the seedling be sitting streight up by now. Why is it still curved?

    Yes is a T5 lamp with four tubes. I just took some readings right now.
    * Water temp 78 degrees F
    * PH 5.9
    * PPM 236 (little high bc of superthrive & hormex was at 150 originally)

  10. First pic of the temp is temp inside tent and second one below light next to seedling.

  11. 78f is way too hot for water. When you placed the seed in how big was the hole the taproot went in to.

    What temp would you recommend for water? The whole was a big as if you did one in soil with the tip of a pencil. Enough to fit like one seed and half.

  13. It should be 65-68f... as soon as I see over 70 I'm expecting problems in the root zone in my experience. How's the seed? Did you have your sprayers on the cube from the start? Your could have possibly drowned that seed.

  14. I had the sprayers on 1 minute and off 5 minutes from start. I doesn't look enough to drown her, but... The seed already came off the seedling. I will take a pic when home in a few min.

  15. This were the instructions I followed.

  16. This is not looking good. :( uploadfromtaptalk1409045036437.jpg

  17. I probably will lose this one too. I am going to have to grow these outside the system and bring them back when they are stronger. This really sucks. I been trying for months now without success losing seed after seed.

  18. Dont worry smoosh well get you going. So you said you have lost alot of seeds?

    Has this been with the same watering schedule?

    I use root riot cubes and have never had that problem when starting a seed.
    In my experience im thinking you have overwatered the seeds... but i wouldn't rule out poor genetics

  19. This is the 3rd one I tried now.

    The first I left the sprayers on all the time. The second it was the same as now but I was pouring water on the pod every day when I check my readings. So yeah I probably over water those. Both of them were without nutrients or hormones just tap water.

    This one I have left it alone with no extra water. Just 1 min on and 5 min off sprayers. On this one I added superthrive and hormex. Following Instructions for seedlings and seeds.

    Genetics are fine from Seedism applejack, cheese, and hippie.
