Homemade Wooden Pipe?

Discussion in 'DIY and Homemade' started by SMOCATRON, Aug 14, 2014.

  1. I lost my pipe a while ago and it was pretty hard to get. I'm sick of using apples all the time so I decided to make my own one.

I don't know what type of wood it is but It's from a wooden hand I made in woodwork at school back in 2008. I sawed off the index finger and made the holes with a screwdriver because I don't have a drill. It took like 2 hours.

I burnt a bit where the bowl and mouthpiece are, washed water through it several times to get rid of loose debris and coated the inside with honey. I burnt a but more to get rid of excess honey which sizzled off. I'm not sure if this is good or bad.

I haven't smoked it yet. I was wondering how I can make it safe for smoking by curing the wood or whatever. I only have daily household items. As for the conepiece, I just make disposable ones out of apple skin.

  3. Yeah man Berkeleysmoker is right. Rolling is alot better. Pick up a pack of papers for like 2 bucks. Watch some YouTube videos that teach you how to roll and just try it. You might roll a few wrinkly fast burners at first but they will get better with time.

  4. Just clean out the bowl and use it.  The resins will seal it from the inside. after a few bowls the burned wood taste will clear-up.  If it was wet wood like fresh from a tree, you should probably bake it, to drythe wood.   Never more flame than required to ignite the herb or you will taste the tree.

  5. smearing resin in the bowl helps, but you lost your old pipe..... sooo... maybe just burn some herbs in there without tokin it then pack in on the sides real tight.
Maybe use tobacco instead of herb.
I've heard about the honey thing, but never tried it.
I've made a few wood pipes and never really seasoned the bowl too much.  I use some seriously hardwood though most of the time.
Using hempwick with a woodpipe also helps to cut down the woody taste / burning the pipe
