Why Dont People Hold In Dabs Till Nothing Comes Out?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by Acid Man, Aug 13, 2014.

  1. People don't hold dabs in until they disappear because it isn't necessary. Most THC is absorbed within the first 5 seconds of inhaling. After that, all you are doing is depriving yourself of oxygen.

so then my next question is what is in the smoke that you breath out if it isnt thc? theres little to no plant matter so what else could be giving the smoke mass?

  3. This guy got it.

  4. its actually vapor, not smoke. there is hundereds of compounds you are extracting when you make oil, not just THC

  5. yeah so wouldn't these compounds have some role in changing the high?

  6. what is your point? this is true, this is why bubba kush is going to effect you different than lemon haze, different quantities of cannabinoids/terpenes etc. is what changes the high from strain to strain

I had questions about this in relevance to vaporizing herb but I would assume that provided the temps aren't incredibly high from the dab smoke (which honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it WAS super high), then I guess this would apply:

this was enough to convince me that maybe I should hold them in for longer but NOT deprive myself of oxygen while doing so... it's brilliant when you think about it. (IMO)

  8. Troll or serious

  9. Because they're idiots who want to seem tough infront of their friends or on video. All they're doing is unnessesary damage to their lungs.

so then why would you exhale them?
these compounds that are extracted along with the THC

yeah, thanks :) I cant believe im being called a possible troll for asking this. high potency well purged oils and waxes are going to contain a lot of cannabinoids and all that being absorbed in just a few seconds doesnt seem right

Wow, this thread is the most misleading thread I've read all day. THC is absorbed into the walls of your body due to heat. Obviously, a jar can't absorb THC like a human body. No more than 5 seconds. There's a lot more proof than just words of mouth.

  13. wha? i think the whole point is that the jar doesnt absorb the THC, it rests on the surface to be later measured in lab of some sort

  14. I would say from personal experience though (and I only vape) that I notice a difference when I use the technique BKS provided as opposed to just exhaling after a few seconds. I'm pretty susceptible to passing out from holding my breath (syncopic colvusions?) and it is NOT from oxygen deprivation that gives this added effect. I don't know all of the science behind it but it seems to be a good rule of thumb to live by. BTW like I said, dabs are not vapes... I honestly think the temps of most people's dab smoke is way too high to hold it in comfortably and/or safely? IDK... but I know that those nails get hot as hell and just because your wax doesn't catch fire when you dab it doesn't mean it's not super hot.

  15.
Wait... so how does the smoke get into the jar in the first place...?

  16. Please explain to me how a jar can absorb THC, and explain to me how they determine how long it takes for it to absorb. Once again, a jar isn't a human body.
Simple, jars don't absorb THC, THC composites into the pores of glass.

  17. haha man how stoned are you?
    kudos
