When Did Scientific Bongs/percs Come Around?

    So I know that bongs have been around for centuries, but i want to know, when did scientific bongs and percolators first appear? I cant find any info about it. I know that glass on glass joints originally came from lab equipment but i have no idea when it was incorperated into a bong. Who was the first to do this? Which came first, Glass on glass or percs? Any info you guys have I would love to hear! Cheers!
