Well as the title says I'm a first time grower and I'm a huge noob haha. Let's get to the basics... I started to smoke Mary j when I found out I had some major back problems. Well now I've decided to try and grow it. I started my seeds out in a green house like I would any of my tomatoes or any other crop I grow. My plants are around 4 weeks old now. I just transplanted them from the 5 gallon buckets they were in and put them in a big wooden "grow box" I made that is 3ft x 2ft x 12in. I have 8 plants and 6 are around 7-8 in tall the others are around 4-6 in tall. I did plant them around July 11th or so and they look like good healthy plants. I have fed them with miracle grow plant food about every 2 weeks so I just fed them again today. I also have 10-10-10 fertilizer and I have sprinkled that on them 2 times now. Plants are nice and dark green some eaten spots from bugs but I don't want to put any pesticides on my plants. I do have some pictures that I will add. My main concerns are.

    1. When will they pre-flower/flower? (Since they were planted late)
    2. When can I truly tell the sexes of my plants?
    3. How tall will they get?
    4. Anyway to speed them up outside?
    5. How much will they yield?

Also these seeds are from a few bags I bought that was some high grade kush. I got about 2 or 3 seeds out of like 10 bags lol. I have read a lot of the posts on here but I like a more back to back response of my own to understand things more. So any replies that are left are greatly appreciated. Also if you're gonna bash on me don't expect to get a rouse out of me I don't play kiddie drama games. If you like drama get on Facebook ;)

Oh one more thing. I posted a picture also that shows one of my plants that for some reason has stopped growing big leaves the leaves are staying pretty small. Any ideas why? It looks healthy just looks like a dwarf plant haha.

  2. Hey Korbin - lookin' good, your green thumb shows! Here's an quick and dirty tip - they're ready (past) for their own pots. As your intentions are obviously filled with love and care, sometimes what we think is helpful is...well - rethink.
What do you propose to do when they crowd each other out? Cannabis is a very loving creature but has a significant personal space. She likes open horizons. Crowding indicates competition and may increase the likelihood of self-pollination. Growers hate that.
    Potup!

  3. Never thought of that haha I have been doing a lot of research and have had older stoners/growers tell me tips and tricks but never heard any about seperating them. What size pots should I put them in? Should I do this asap?

  4. Also when will I be able to tell sex? That's one reason they are all together still.

  5. I might transplant one or two but id say there's enough root space, the seasons almost over.

  6. I'm in southern ky. Since I planted mine early in July and they are barely a month old do you think all is well? When can I make them flower if that's even possible? Also I forgot to mention these are under trees now they get hardly any direct sunlight now is that bad?

  7. Another thing I was thinking of is if there is enough root space how can I keep them short and bushy to keep my yield up? My bro in law said to let the plants start a branch then when it starts another set pinch those off and the plant will fork every time and stay small and it will also produce more bud...

  8. Flowering should begin soon if the plants are mature. I would recommend super cropping and topping but at this time of the year I would just tie them down to get the desired branching structure your looking for.

  9. with your potting situation... more room=more growth=more yeild
lighting... more sunlight the better. you want at least 6 hours of solid light a day preferebly morning sunlight
when it will flower... outdoor this happens naturally. a plant will flower when the light cycle becomes shorter. aka hours of sun in a day is less and less.
when will i know the sex... the first sign of a mature plant is its (pre-flowers). a female pre-flower sprouts little pistils(hairs) where the main stem meets a node or branch. a male pre flower will be in the same spot. but they look like little balls.
as far as how tall and how much they will yield, theres no way to tell. with all the right elements in ky, we can grow some big trees here. 8 foot plants no problem. btw im also in south ky!

  10. Thanks for the info, how long til I see the sexing results? Your from ky so you should know when the seasons change here better then me. When will they show any sign I know what to look for but when should I be looking the hardest? Another quick question how can a guy in ky get seeds from seed banks?

  12. Go on the internet to get seeds shipped to you. I've ordered about 7-10 times with no issues. I like attitude seedbank. Use promo code 420 for 10% discount. Pay for the guaranteed shipping incase it's seized by customs the will re ship you another order for free. Buy books and learn as much as possible. Jorge Cervantes and Ed Rothensal both write excellent grow books. They are available at Amazon or online. They are more than worth the cost. They will teach you how to grow great plants. Also read what you can on forums and on the internet. Watch YouTube videos also, they can help you understand things you read. Learn as much as you can, it will pay off with better flowers. Be patient and don't give up. You bound to have problems along the way, learn from those issues and keep learning more. Best advice you'll ever get. Good luck.

  13. Thanks for the reply and I will look into the books like you said. As far as the YouTube and google stuff I have ready 100's of articles and grow bibles and stuff I know a bit about it I just like talk to actual growers and get their advice by showing them photos see what you all think. But thanks for the info !!
