Greetings my fellow Potheads. Basically, I wanted to know if vaping bho concentrates into a Pen or Atomizer was actually bad for you? (I own a micro g-pen) I feel that when I'm vaping and the coil heats up my wax, I'm not only getting wax but getting a bit of the coil and it's "fumes" ...because it tastes a little different and smells a bit funny. Let me also say that I just had bought and replaced this coil (from the actual company) and its only been like the 4th dab/bowl or whatever you want to call it. I noticed it more of course when the wax is towards the end and almost gone, more than I do when it's packed full. ...but still, and I know it's not the concentrate because I bought some top shelf lab tested meds. Also I know not to touch the coil with the nail/scooper. Can anyone please help clarify this topic? Thank you.
What model of glen are you using? The older models tend to have pretty cheap components and sometime aluminum in them. I just got the Snoop Dogg G pen, which I hate buying into the shitty celeb marketing of the whole thing, but I have to admit its a damn good product. No foul taste or smells coming off it and much easier to clean than my other g pen. check it out if you like.... http://luxurysmoker.com/products/snoop-dogg-g-pen-herbal-vaporizer
I have seen some of these things produce tons of vapor just cooking off what ever is in/on/around the heater from manufacturing. Shit is just plain nasty.
I bought this PYXIS on eBay for $80 and it has no coils and no wicks. It's a ceramic heated bottom plate with a glass chamber. Clean fucking hits!!! I'm surprised these don't cost more. Edit: $80 was for the whole kit with battery 650mah...not bad!
I'm not sure if they've changed the design, but when i first got my Gpen a couple years ago I had the same problem. If you start heating the wick without any wax on it (which you shouldn't do because it shortens the lifespan) then it would give off a lot of "vapor" that had a chemical taste. Back then Grenco Science admitted to having some kind of substance added to the wicks. They would say that they coat the wick with it to preserve the lifespan which is why you might get a weird taste. Not sure if they ever said what it actually was though. Also, the sheath that protects the coil/wick used to be made from fiberglass, but I think most all of the new designs are glass sheaths now. I haven't used mine in a while because of all that. Plus they're a money pit with how often you have to buy replacement parts at $20-$40 a piece.
The one i bought says the coil lasts an average of 6 months! We'll see. If I get half of that I'll be happy.
From what I've seen, some of the smaller companies put out better products. Grenco probably cuts cornes in order to cut costs. Vape ape is trash. Atmos puts out garbage. Some small brand's exclusive models I like are LampStar pyxis, K.I.S.S. cartridges by Up Tech, and the gentlemens hash oil cartridges. These 3 don't taste like shit when I hit them. Everything else is junk.
