Nftg Feeding Schedule

  1. Hey guys, looking for advice. Have 3gal pots of coco. Ive read that its best to water coco daily, and ive been feeding full strength (according to the mixxing timeline) daily. its really taking me down on nute levels. i havent seen any burning, if anything, i need to get some more bone meal to the plants. should i do one day regular water, one day feed? i know coco doesnt hold on to the nutes, so its best to water with something in it. so i was also thinking maybe just doing half the reccomended dose. does anyone else use nectar for the gods nutes with coco? whats the best schedule? i know trial and error is part of the learning process, but if anyone can shed some insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I almost never watered my plants daily. I'd water them as frequently as your plant tells you to. Heavy pot = no water, light weight pot = time to water. As for feeding frequency, I fed every watering unless the plants were looking dark green, at which point I would give them water with silica and calmag only for one feeding then back to nutes.

  3. Thanks for your reply man. I never used to, but people said coco shouldnt dry out on top like soil, they said to always keep it moist. Do you agree with that? the top part of the coco is usually always dry by the next day. Although i have let them go a day or 2 without water when im exhausted from work, and diddnt see any signs of stress.

  4. I never followed that rule. Coco is versatile; it holds water very well but is almost impossible to over water. It does very well when kept moist 24/7 (as in a drip system), it also does just fine if you let it dry out a bit and feed every couple of days.

I suppose there are little roots that like to chill just under the surface, but if you look at your root mass the bulk of the roots are lower in the pot. So in my opinion, its better to tailor your feeding habits to the majority of the roots than the couple of fine roots at the surface (if you are concerned about how much you are wasting in nutes feeding everyday). Not to mention its a giant pain in the ass to mix nutes everyday.

If you are really worried about keeping it constantly moist without breaking your bank in nutes, you could set up a few SIPs and let the plant drink however much it wants to... But then you are getting into a whole-nother argument about oxygen and whatnot.

I guess what I'm getting at is feed them whatever way fits your budget, schedule, and lifestyle; its not going to make that much of a difference (if any at all). Just my opinion though, I could be 100% wrong.

  5. I drip for 8 mins. 5 times a day right now in week six of flower. On some cinex in 2 gallon pots pure coco.
You can treats coco like soil and water when needed And get good results but if treated like hydro and kept wet you will be growing hydroponily.thus receiving hydro benifts.
