Switched To New Brand Of Fert And Bad Response

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Johny Chronic Seed, Aug 9, 2014.

  1. Hey guys new to the forums but had to get some emergency advice.

Im a member at 420mag but my browser is saying the site is infected with malware and i fear going any further with it, anyone else a member there and experiencing the same or is it normal for you?

    Okay heres the REAL problem,

So I purchased "iguana bloom" today at a 50% discount, I know i know... you get what you pay for but the shop i got it from is pretty legit and couldnt imagine them selling a spoiled product. When i opened the bottle there was a bunch of solids around the mouth of the bottle. Gave it a good shake and continued forward. After pouring noticed a very strong barnyard/fishy smell but continued reassuring myself of an odd smell can be expected but never had seen it to this degree.

After mixing up 1 gallon a batch exactly as called for and feeding, within an hour my two Diesel's (week 5 veg) appear to be responding very bad and are wilting as if they need water. I figure a
new brand may stress them a little but not to this extent.

I cant lie i did add a bit of stress to poor girls today but didnt see any effects until after their feeding. Some factors contributing to the stress today/past few days to consider include:

-transitioned to HPS from MH two days ago
-took two cuttings from the lowest nodes today
-topped two 1' new shoots today

Also added about 4 cups of tap water to make a full gallon, (they have only had bottled in the past)
dont think that would matter but maybe the different PH added to the stress.

if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated, hoping its just a bad shock from all the abuse but worried that the new nutes are botched batch.

    Thank guys!

  2. Does your planter have drainage holes?
Temperature of your grow area? Humidity level?
    Normal water schedule?
Soil feel damp, dry, wet, or saturated?
Ph level of run off, or soil sample?
    Air circulation?

You'll definately have to check the pH of your tap water. I use Iguana Juice and don't worry about the solids around the inside of the bottle mouth, had the same thing with my IG Grow; I even called the company to inquire and they said it was perfectly normal.

  4. Hey guys just following up,

Came home this afternoon to two happy ladies, very relieved and will prob flip to 12/12 in a few days just to be safe. Appreciate the feedback guys and although they are looking better ill prob continue and make some sort of journal for my Medical Grow (2 diesels from clones & and joint doctors LR#2 X Pink Lady AF that i crossed last go at ). for starters ill respond to @[member="Insider79"]

-Temp- 78-80 degrees F with lights, 76-77 lights off.
-No humidity tester (Hydrometer?) but my room never gets too humid since i live in a very dry climate.
-No regular water/feeding schedule just as needed or small amounts if i have left overs from other plants.
-No PH gear either but use purified drinking water i get in 1 gallon jugs
    - Air flow is plentiful 440 CFM for the hood and small house fan for fresh air circulation.

@[member="CanadianOrganic"] how about the odor i mentioned any issues there for you? Wasnt just complaining, it really really smells lol. Spilled some on my counter and even bleach and soapy water didnt get rid of the smell. Think i may exchange it for a non-discounted / odorless brand. In its defense the autoflower cross seems to have bulked up a noticeable amount after the wilt went away.

Thanks again guys! i will def have to check out some of your posts and see what you guys are up to currently. Also ill post a link on here to my journal with lots of pics of my setup and more details about my grow.

Yeah mine danks too dude. Its because its made with guano and all that sweet smelling stuff.. lmao

Buy one of those small plastic syringes people use for childrens cough syrup. That way you don't gotta pour it or anything. Buddy at the hydro shop gave me this stupid plastic cup - it was the worst. I said fuck that.

  8. @[member="CanadianOrganic"] brilliant, I was thinking a funnel but thats a way better idea. Best regards,
