Do You Have A Digestive Disorder?

  1. Ok, I know you guys just LOVE to talk about this stuff [why else would you click the link?], but I'm curious as to who may have unusual guts like me. I always knew I was "different" in terms of my digestive health. I have what I like to call a "vulture's stomach" because fresh fruits and vegetables don't work well with me. Meats and dairy go just fine. Whenever people offer me fruits they always ask:"Why'd you take that? It's rotting!"

Ummm, that's just it. I can't digest it well UNLESS it's fermented, cooked, or aged a bit past it's prime.
So if you've got funny guts tell us about them. I'd like to hear.

...why do people eat green bananas anyway? They're not even sweet.:/

Mostly fermented veggies, like saurkraut.  I usually add carrots and beets to the cabbage base.  It has to be the living kind, not the hotdog kind of saurkraut.  It's pretty simple to make.

He must have had reflux from dysbiosis..which is probably why most of us have it.  Why we have so much gut dysbiosis?..well that's another topic.  Usually fermented foods are not enough to combat it, especially those that have eaten a SAD diet all their lives.

    I have Barrett's esophagus.

  12. oh probly won't help me then.

Mine is from a hiatal hernia. The only thing ththat helps is not drinking alcohol and caffine

It's worth a try, cheap and easy.  Alcohol used to kill me and so did milk, the former becoming instantly acidic in my throat.  Spicy food was murderous.

Mind you, I have no ideer about your specific condition, but I'd still say it's worth a try.

    Plus, it's tasty.

Isn't Barrett's esophagus one of the outcomes of acid reflux?  Are you treating it?

  15. Yes and yes.  Doctor's are no help (here take this Nexium) so I have been working on my health for some time now.

  16.
Is your plan of attack working?  Have you tried eating live, fermented foods?

    I also drink water kefir.

  17. Sort of?  It's been trial and error as I have several things I'm working on besides the acid issues.  Yes I eat fermented foods, although prob not as much I could/potentially should.  I made kefir water for about a year, became too much of a hassle and didn't feel positive effects (or negative).  I was also terrified of sugar at the time.

  18. Trust me, I'm on the microbe train.  Prebiotics are probably more of an issue rather than probiotics for a large portion of the population.  Microbes need food too.

    I'll check it out though.
