So due to the extreme heat build up caused by recirculating grow room air within the shed, I decided to install an exhaust vent. Hopefully the temps will start dropping as it pulls air through the shed's air leaks, through the filtered intake vent, through the veg, into the flower room, and into the carbon filter, through the HPS hood and out that new vent in the back of the shed. Here's to fixing problems slowly but surely! -growtender
Yeah that's a lot of use out of a bulb. Even without the light meter those should get replaced regularly. 1000 watt Scrog Journal
Finally got my new pump and set up the veg room proper. No more hand watering these ladies, they get watered 9 times a day! Really like using these manifolds because I can adjust flow or shut if I end up short of 12 plants. And here's the latest from the flower side. Preflowers all around and a nice but slow stretch. Temps seem to be holding at 80 degrees just above canopy and the oscillating fan is keeping the air moving right over it. Now that I've finally got both sides going I can finally clean up the ridiculous mess of parts and extra gear...maybe sell some of the redundant shit I've collected. -growtender
Well it looks like the heat issue has subsided for now. High today is 75 and the temp at the flowering canopy is holding at 80 degrees. Purchased this Delonghi PAC C120: Works well, but I tried to exhaust it through a pre-existing 4" port in the veg room. It seems to restrict the exhaust too much (the AC's exhaust is 5") and the duct gets really hot. Think I'll need to cut another 6" hole in the backside of the shed from the veg room out using the same kind of vent I installed last week for the 409CFM exhaust fan. I could even cut the vent duct back, butt the AC exhaust right up to the duct, and have only about a 10" from AC exhaust to outside, hopefully making the unit run efficiently. I'm also gonna have to cut the flower room intake to 8"x8" (double the area of the 6" grow exhaust) and cut the grow room intake to 11"x11" (double the area of the combined AC and grow room exhausts). Here's the new plan: I hope this works because it's gonna get hot this weekend! Anyone see any problems with this? -growtender
Alright got some work done yesterday! I installed the AC finally...funny how the weather cooled down Same vent that I used on the grow room exhaust. The fact that it's larger than the AC unit's exhaust should help keep the unit running smoothly. -growtender
So I ended up taking some advice on here about making my grow room intake larger to account for both the 409cfm grow room exhaust and the ac's exhaust. Ended up making it 12"x12" or a square foot. Then I used filter material over it. Pretty happy with the results. I can tell more air is getting into the room and I'm glad I made it way bigger than it needed to be... And it looks nice! AC unit really cools the grow down quickly, so I don't think it will really run all that often. -growtender
Yeah it's funny because I find I'm more into the building and execution of growing vs smoking weed right now. It really is a challenge to the engineering mindset I have. Planning on dubing it up this weekend though! -growtender
So the AC unit leaks a little water. This particular unit is supposed to exhaust the water out the vent with the hot air. Wasn't much water though, so I hope this lid under the unit will keep the water in one place and with all the air movement it will just evaporate regularly. -growtender
I have always had to hook a drain up to my portable ac units. There is usually more humidity in the room that the ac can get rid of. I built a small stand about 14-16 inch tall to put the ac on, then hook one of those small clear hoses to it, drilled a hole in a 5gal bucket to stick the hose into. let gravity help you.
Anyone had experience growing Headband, Afgooey, and Dark Star? Man, these guys are all stretching pretty high and fast. Had to lollipop them to wipe out the undergrowth and hopefully slow them down a little bit. All of them are supposed to be hybrids but mostly Indica. Last grow I finished was AK47 and LSD and they didn't stretch much at all... -growtender
Yes that's supposed to just be for draining before storage or transport. Manufacturer says the unit evaporates and exhausts water condensate with the hot air exhaust out of the back. I have a tray under the unit which has a little water (maybe a quarter cup) after about five days of running. -growtender
Yeah these guys all stretch. Hopefully they don't go bonkers cuz I ain't got much head space left: Not too much left on the old light ropes...pray for an quick end On a lighter note, the new veg is coming up well: Maybe I should send them into flower earlier? At least the temps are staying at around 80 degrees lights on/ around 70-4 degree off... -growtender
The passive air intake you put in, does that pull air from the attic? From the picture your light looks kinda dim for a 1k. Maybe it needs a new bulb? That can also cause extra stretch. Running out of room is never fun.
