Propaganda Of Marijuana

Discussion in 'Politics' started by HubbaBubba21, Aug 8, 2014.

  1. I dislike the fact that this harmless plant that has evoluted mankinds before us is brought up to propaganda since the 1950s even possibly before that. One of the most extremist propaganda I've witnessed of marijuana usage was 1950s government lead to campaigns warning the public, "Marijuana is a dangerous drug that forces African-American Negros to rape Caucasian women". Unbelievable yes, we're talking about a plant so harmless and proven to better your body than most Western medicines doctors, therapists, psychologists, and so on that force the actual dangerous drugs down your throat for extra pay from companies for prescriptions. That is why I feel not just some or few, but all lovers of marijuana should press on the issue of what makes weed illegal, and to also educate those whom are lost without the proper knowledge of this medical substance.

Vote yes to legalize medical marijuana in Florida. Slowly but surely we are winning the war, and more of people are realizing that they have been lied to. That is why we should unite and fight until this is legalized and handled properly. Day by day we are ever more close to reaching our freedom. Hope, fight, and spread the word.

  2. How about not just Florida but global legalization

The propaganda that you speak of was at it's worst in the 1930's and 1940's, and somewhat in the 1950's, with such movies as Reefer Madness (AKA Tell Your Children), which was released in 1937.

I really don't think that, in the 50's, there were warnings that "Negroes" would rape Caucasian women as a result of smoking marijuana.  Things were bad, but not THAT bad, lol.  Usually, during this time period, they said that it led to delinquency and harder drugs.

  4. not to mention the countless amounts of brainwashed parents who feel it is necessary to pass on these clearly un trustworthy "facts"

  5. The only real problem I had with your post is that you mistook psychologists for psychiatrists. A psychologist works with you to work out your issues and tries to fix them. A psychiatrist gives you pills to mask your issues and usually ends up turning you into a zombie.

  6. A psychologist brain washes you, a psychiatrist drugs you

As a psych student, this is such bullshit. Fuck the doctors too, rite guys? Current medical indoctrination totally has nothing to do with corporate power that you liberal archno-capitalist adore so much. Also the reason Cannabis is illegal.

B.S. I cannot remember hearing the phrase "African-American" until the '70s at the earliest, or maybe even the '80s.

  9. I agree .  I don't recall where I first heard the term "African American", but according to random google searches, Jesse Jackson started using it in the 1980's.

  10. i find it interesting that now we have all sorts of reverse propaganda. "weed will totally cure your cancer!" and the like. people treat it like a damn miracle drug nowadays. a;though its incredibly useful, it isnt magic.

  11.
And everyone thinks that smoking it has zero negative impact on their health... it's like a ridiculous delusion.

  13. I once read a quote from Anslinger (the guy who masterminded hemp prohibition in the 30's) that was something like "marijuana will make a darkie think he's equal to a white man" or something to that effect. It was in the opening to the play Reefer Madness the musical

  14. On point right there.

  15.
Agreed. Eating and vaporizing are the way to go.

  16. Idk. I never bought the building material conspiracy.

Can someone explain how weed threatens corperations?

What's to stop say, the paper industry, from swiching to hemp? How would legalizing a cheaper source of paper hurt the paper industry?

The way I see it, weed is illegal, because big brother needed another war, and started a war on drugs
