Newbie Growing Autoflower Critical

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by thegrowblog, Aug 7, 2014.

  1. Hello everyone, new to the forum and wanted to discuss some of the plants I am growing and the environment.
\nI moved to an area of Spain recently which has a tremendous amount of sunlight and is ideal for growing. I popped into the local grow shop and was sold 3 auto-flowering Critical seeds.
\nFor my first grows they went ok but I was expecting a lot more. They were ready for harvest after 9 weeks however the yield was pretty low, I would maybe say 8 grams max on each plant. I planted them at different intervals just incase I did something wrong.
\nThe first plant got a bit of nute burn and I would estimate I got 5/6 grams maybe.
\nSecond plant grew nicely, I fed it about week four and I harvested it on week 9. I reckon there was about 8 grams on that one. (picture attached).
\nThird plant is really stunted, will be lucky to get 3 grams.
\nReading the description of the seeds on other websites they say the average is about 60 grams, that means I am a long way short.
\nTemperture reach up to 32c during the day and the plants get about 13 hours of light and 10 hours of uninterrupted sunlight.
\nSo what could I be doing which is better? Currently I have another three plants on the go, Northern Lights, White Widow and Blueberry. They are all auto and are coming up to four weeks old.

Hey dude, are you saying they're getting about 23 hours total light? temps are a little high, but not too bad. what type of soil are you using, and what size containers? From what I've seen, most autos go longer than 8-9 weeks, the breeders are a little misleading. 10+ weeks is what is more realistic. Buds put on alot more weight during those last few weeks. I have an auto critical going now @ day 15. Good luck.

  3. Sorry, I did not explain very well. There is daylight for around 13 hours of the day and for 10 of those hours the sun is shining directly onto the plants.

The containers are 12 litres which 2.6 gallons but I have recently purchased 18 litres (3.9 gallons) for the next grow. The soil is called 'Terra Professional'.

I have decided to start up my own blog documenting my experiences with different auto flowering strains and have just uploaded the first post in regards to the first auto Critical plant.

My second blog post will be up in the next few days about 2 more Critical plants.

  4. That amount of light is mostly why your yield is so low. Autoflowers need as much light as possible for them to grow to their full potential. Most people do 18/6 - 24/0 with 20/4 being the most popular. 13 Hours/day just won't cut it. The size of your containers is fine, and I can't comment on your soil as I know nothing about that brand. But from what I saw, it didn't look bad. If it didn't burn your plants last time then I would stick with it.

It seems like your only problem is yield, so increase that light and you will do much better! good luck.
