Box Im Building

  1. So I've finally decided on the location of my garden, I've drawn up plans for my box, now I just have to put it together, and I was wondering what you all thought of it. It's gonna be made of 2x4's and wrapped in panda film. box plan 1 001.jpg

  2. Just realized I never mentioned, I am using a 600w cooltube 5 gal bubble buckets and a carbon scrubber/fan. think this will be enough space or will I need to make it taller?

  3. 36"w and 18"d ? I'd go a little bigger for a 600w...like 36"x 24" to 42"x36".  A 600 should be able to cover 12 square feet of canopy.

If you go with a wide rectangle, make sure you orient the bulb pointing front to back so that the light footprint fits the shape of the box.

Make sure you have about 36-40" of plant growth area between the bulb and the soil. Then add in what ever other measurements...like bucket height, etc..

  4. Well, the 18 is the length of the support boards on the top and bottom. True depth is the 22". It's really all I have in terms of space, as I am putting it in a closet. I can possibly go up to 2 feet taller if I cut the shelf that is in there, and about 6-7 inches wider, but that's about it. Was thinking today if I should go with the open frame wrapped in panda film like I originally intended or encase it in plywood and line the inside instead. They both have their own merits and I am torn on which I want to do.

  5. Ok, change of plans, going with 30"x36"x72" wardrobe style cabinet lined with panda film.

  6. I don't know your budget but if you haven't got your ballast yet, I recommend a digital ballast with adjustable watts. They're a little more $ but well worth it imo. You get more light for less electricity, quiet, less heat, adjustable...You might be able to run 400w in there...or at least have the option to veg under 400watts.

  7. i have a 600w digital ballast, cooltube and everything i need except the bulb and an air pump. gonna buy both tomorrow with my paycheck

  8. right on man.

on airpumps I used to use a 4 outlet GH airpump that was for their hydrofarms systems I think(it was tan). The owner at my hydro store let me hook up all the airpumps one day and that one was by far the quietest. ...just an fyi...dunnno how big of one you plan on getting. On the cheepo side I've found the walmart dual outlet ones to be much quieter then the single outlet...'air' brand or w/e.     ...I'm just rambling tonite...I'm pretty high lol.

  9. This was recommended by my local hydro dealer, but his is twice the price, lol. told him my setup and what i was looking for and he suggested that over going commercial.

  10. What the point of the box, why not use the closet as is.

  11. The closet is 23"D x 12'W x 8'H and I share it with my girlfriend so that is impossible.
