great story to read on usually depressing NJ news, despite the inevitable Chris Christie is an asshole message at the end

FRANKLIN - A family says medical marijuana brought back their daughter's ability to speak.
Brain surgery and severe repeated seizures took away Sara Estrella's speech for 17 years.
Over the last month, parents Shawnea and Ernie Estrella say medical marijuana brought back the voice of their 22-year-old daughter.

Sara's parents say they hope to someday get easy access to pills and oils, because even with a prescription they have to strain the marijuana leaves into oil using a machine that can take hours.

In December, Gov. Chris Christie shot down the idea of expanding the state's medical marijuana program and voiced opposition to letting New Jersey patients use or consume marijuana bought in other states.
"For recreational use or de-criminalization or legalization? I will not permit it," he said. "Now, if the majority of the people in this state want that, then they've got to elect a different governor."
