Whats Your Opinion Of Virtual Reality Taking Over The Gaming World?

  1. The technology of virtual reality seems to be taking over someday, thanks to the wonders of Oculus Rift. What do you all think of one day putting on glasses and being submerged into a video game world, rather than turning on the consoles?

  2. Not everyone wants, or is even capable of, meeting the requirements of using their entire body to play a video game.

You'll still be "turning on the console," regardless of whether it takes the form of a wearable item.

  3. Unless you turn on.... a computer

  4.
A console is a computer. ^^ (though the reverse would be less true... sort of)

  5. Just a trendy fad. Like this 3DTV/monitor craze.

  6. People will always like the convenience of a TV and controller

Virtual reality will require extra tools and effort.

I don't see it replacing console gaming unless they switch out the TV for.holo projection to simulate VR

  7. I feel like VR will be kind of like the kinect. Some ppl will love it while most others ignore it. It will be cool and novel at first but then it will fade away.

  8. If it was a full experience like the matrix I could see people getting addicted.

Sword art online would be sweet

  9. I'd be 100% down with VR. I'd wait for a few years after it came out so all the bugs could be tailored. It would be fun, games like skyrim would feel more like an adventure.

  10. fuck all these new online games, half the time it's just screaming kids. i could honestly give half a flying shit what brand new paperweight console they come out with next, as for oculus rift, I WAS somewhat interested in how that'd turn out..until facebook bought it.

  11. Shit, imagine a giant spider coming at you in VR instead of being stuck inside the TV...

I think in general people will never grasp virtual reality in the same way as consoles.  I'm sure it will have people who enjoy it but it's not for everybody.

I bought one of the new consoles recently.  I play it at like 2 in the morning when I'm tired after a long day at work and everyone else is asleep.  I wouldn't want to be running around and jumping in my tiny little bedroom.

i feel like that's one of the main purposes of video games, it's an indoor activity that isn't physically draining.  if I wanted to be active I'd just go outside.

maybe if it was something you just controlled mentally and didn't have to move, it'd catch on.  but I'd still rather be looking at a screen than being completely submerged in a virtual world.  with a screen if something else is going on around me I can also pay attention to that.

  13. i thought they did this already?

  14. it's the future to the truth.

  15. Yes they have already made it but since tech has improve a tiny bit we can now make small yet powerful screens that can emulate reality much more fluid and real alike so out eyes dont get that sore from moving and stuff. I think it's gonna be a hop and a half to play assetto corsa with g27 and dk2 rift :D

And since your not runing triple 2k screens in lets says 27 inches you don't need such a good video card.

  16. If the technology for really good virtual reality gaming was available it would probably be very popular. however, virtual reality is nowhere near the level it would need to be to compete with actual video games. I'm talking you need like in the movies level virtual reality. The stuff we have now is kind of lame.

  17. U thinking of some matrix shit where the whole body gets thrown into virtual reality. I can see that happening when we invent a USB port on our brain or idk how you would do that, so advanced, not for another 400 year.

Oculus rift only places you into virtual reality and makes it seem like your there. The games can't track your body movement yet or anything like that

  18. I think it's really exciting. I agree that "regular" gaming won't die down, but the huuuge potential in VR will make it get a decent market share in my opinion.

Think of the possibilities with stealth, horror and open-world genres. Also porn games. Never underestimate the porn impact.

Oh, and Virtual Boy was fun. I got the chance to play it a couple of years back. Surprisingly good graphics and controls, but I totally see how it failed. It killed my neck after just a couple of minutes of playtesting.

  19. 400 years? Lol nigga do you realize how fast technology is advancing? I give it 20-30 years

  20. I have 0 interest in virtual reality gaming
