Spider Mite(S)

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by Acid Man, Jul 30, 2014.

  1. so yesterday spotted my first RED spider mite on my plant , wasnt a surprise cos they are every where else in the area, lucky for me it is the red kind which are bigger and of course unmissable,
I already made my homemade mite killler spray but since there was only one I didnt even need it,
is there a homemade version of a mite repellent? cos the only one I could find was the killer.

  2.
Man If you see one you have 10,000 on the way, take it serious and spray.

Mite killer? What do you have because mites dont die off easy.

  3. From what I have seen the big red ones are predatory mites. Are they fast? If they are let them be. They eat the fuck out of the bad ones.  I have not sprayed anything on my plants as of yet and I don't plan on it. Anything that looks like it eats microscopic bugs gets a chance on my plants.

  4. ah well fuck, I was looking for that spray that I made ( its for roses but the rough ingredients are: lemon juice, baking soda, apple cider vinegar and dish soap) and im seeing a lot about how their rapid reproduction and invulnerability to BOUGHT sprays,, Im thinking this homemade spray wont do shit.... actually, I know this mite killer wont do shit.
I just hope my local garden centre has at least something for mites

  5. yeah man quick as the devil, ive never seen something that small move so fast, and also really big compared to the normal mites, far from microscopic, but hes gone now because I assumed a mite is a mite, how ever i do have normal spider living on my plant and im thinking rather than trying to do natures work with a spray  ill just give nature a hand by introducing as much predators as possible
since im in the clear for now,, and I really dont want to spray my plants with anything .

just found this, your right  :hello: : http://www.defenders.co.uk/pest-solutions/biological-red-spider-mite-control.html
rather misleading that the preadators mites are also technically red..spider..mites

Right on. I only see them now from time to time.  I brought a clone home a couple months ago and they came out of thin air and swarmed it. Then they were gone. Turns out the friend I got it from has mites bad...none on mine..they picked it clean.

  7.
fruit tree 70% neem with a mitecide and fungicide does a great job.

  8. oh yeah and it completely slipped my mind that these are everywhere in my garden!!!
literally millions! and I was worried this was a bad thing
those real red spider mites dont stand a chance!

  9. No they don't. If they are the ones I have they don't effect the plants at all. Only kill bad guys.

  10. I use Neem oil emulsified with dyna gro protekt and dish soap added as a surfactant.....use this every 3 days. I was alternating Captain Jacks Deadbug Brew and neem oil, but I am just using the neem every 3 days now.. I had two-spotted spider mites in both my gh's and I have only seen like 5 Since I started treating. I been looking for some lately too, but I can't find one.

  11. How long do you think it would take to kill off spider mites that are in the early infestation stage in a small dome with 15 clones? I had 10 clean clones, then put 5 in it from a friend that were apparently infested. I killed the first round of mites 2 days ago, and have been cleaning each leaf individually for eggs... Since they are small and not too many babies it is easy to pick through them all.

Based on your experience, How long do I need to do this before putting them In my tent?

I would wait a week to be safe, spray the hell out of them and break the hatching cycle by nailing them often.

  13. Awesome, thanks! That's what I wanted to hear. Seems like with a little persistence, and with my small affected area, it might actually be possible to kill all the mites.

I sure as hell don't want to infect my brand new tent on the very first time, don't really have an option to get more clones though

After a few rounds of treatment they should be clear. Mites have a 3 day cycles and should be treated that often to kill newly hatched eggs. nice you break the cycle they will still need to be treated periodically to prevent new infestation.
