Are Joints A Waste Of Weed?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by Langundo, Jul 29, 2014.

  1. All in the title

  2. No not completely. More of the smoke may burn away in a joint in between hits, but it is not a waste of weed. If you want to conserve, take single bong snaps.

  3. Yes..... but no not really.

We could nit pick about efficiencies all day. They get you high that is good enough.

  4. They serve a purpose but its definitely not the best way to conserve the herb.

  5. Depends on your own definition, I guess.

I mean as long as you're having a good time, has that small percentage of weed really gone to waste? That's how I like to see it, anyways.

From personal experience smoking cigs, blunts, joints... I would say it's ALL ENTIRELY DEPENDENT ON HOW YOU SMOKE IT.

For example, you light your smoke and take a couple drags, set it down in your ash tray and leave it for five minutes- well guess what? You just wasted half of your smoke.

If you sit there and are actually smoking it and not just letting it burn (think about how bowls in pipes can keep burning, if you let it sit there it will burn itself out), then it isn't a waste, in my opinion.

But if you're coughing more than you're smoking, then to me, it isn't worth it and I'd rather just take a hit every now and then off of one of my glass pieces.

  7. I smoked a joint and got high AF, so no it wasn't a waste. However I generally pack single bong tokes in order to conserve bud.

  8. In my opinion, yes. Paper burns way too quick. Bongs, Vapes, Bubblers >>>>

Again this is strictly my opinion if you disagree, that's cool.

  9. They do their job, not a waste. Now as far as efficiency goes they aren't the greatest.

I smoked a nice sativa joint this morning and have a nice indica rolled for the walk home from work. I enjoy smoking joints on the go or with friends.

  10. It's not a waste if it's someone else's 😉

  11. The amount of "side-stream" smoke (smoke going into the air, not your lungs) is greater in joints, than pipes or bongs. But blunts definitely are even more wasteful than joints! Not to mention that tobacco sucks when it comes to the effects on your health!

Comparison of subjective, pharmacokinetic, and physiological effects of marijuana smoked as joints and blunts. (full - 2009) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2776770/pdf/nihms111666.pdf
\n"Joints produced greater increases in plasma THC and subjective ratings of marijuana intoxication, strength, and quality compared to blunts, and these effects were more pronounced in women compared to men. However, blunts produced equivalent increases in heart rate and higher carbon monoxide levels than joints, despite producing lower levels of plasma THC. These findings demonstrate that smoking marijuana in a tobacco leaf may increase the risks of marijuana use by enhancing carbon monoxide exposure and increasing heart rate compared to joints."

Now what makes this even worse is that many blunt smokers use MORE cannabis in a blunt than they do in a joint or pipe!

Quantification and comparison of marijuana smoking practices: blunts, joints, and pipes.
    (full – 2011) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3025094/

"Participants reported that they placed 50% more marijuana in blunts than in joints and placed more than twice the amount of marijuana in blunts than in pipes."

So, you use more cannabis and less THC gets into your system with blunts! You also run the risk of getting addicted to tobacco.

  12. I agree with old school smoker, if you smoke a joint and get high its not been a waste but if you want to save weed by using less and still get high use a bong or just vape.

  13. nah, smoking is about enjoying the experience, not just being high.

  14. Its the least efficient method of smoking and gets you the least high out of pipes blunts bong or a good vape so yeah I would say its a waste

  15. Are you rolling pinners or are they the size of king kongs fingers?

  17. Just found a rolling technique that has changed my view of J's. Bascially you roll the foundation of the J than put the weed in, not traditional, but damn it makes a pretty looking cone that is tight, releases minimal amount of smoke when not inhaling. Also you can just pitch the roach (I roll my J's with a crutch/filter) when you are done and not having to worry about having anything on you

  18. I'm a blunt guy

  19. If you hotbox it is a very efficient method
