At it again, started off some pretty lights, skywalker kush, durban poison and blue dream auto as pictured from closest to farthest below. And i got my med card, no longer just a care giver finally a patient. Anyone have experience with bonsai mums? Would the genetics be just as stable with clone mothers, id like two of each, besides the auto. Im a little hesitant to root prune to keep a bonsai mom i dont want to kill off these guys.

  3. What size are the white pots and the size of the black ones? I use the square black 1gal for clones and for about 1/2 of the life of a mother and 2gal for the last 1/2. Then, I flower them out, or give them away.

LST plays a big part with my mothers and I'll do 5 or so extra clones to get 1 or 2 with growth suitable for LST after topping. Like 4 branches close to the same height on the stem and different directions. Make a collar with zip ties that will slide up the outside and catch on the lip at the top and use pipe cleaners to adjust the branches. You can re-use this rig over and over.

Don't bother with the root pruning anymore, after about a year the plant just gets a bit too gnarly to mess with. Much easier to start another mother from a clone a few months before needed. I figure on about 3 months to get a new mother *right* from a freshly rooted clone. Been running the same strain for a bit over 5 years and keep two mothers, one is pretty much just back up.

Something to think about, but your plants are looking good.
