Cancer Esophageal Cancer

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by zhollenwvu, Jul 29, 2014.

  1.   My 54 yr old father has recently been diagnosed with esophageal cancer (roughly one year ago). He had a small tumor in his esophagus that was scheduled to be surgically removed. Scans at that time, however, showed that the cancer had metastasized to his hip bone and spine. The surgery was cancelled indefinitely and he was treated with chemo/radiation. He has lost nearly 60 lbs so far and has just finished another round of chemo. The cancer is at a point of stasis and has not spread. His array of medicines include high power painkillers (hydros, Fentanyl, etc). Many of these I have seen the effects of on his cognitive function and to the say the least I was more than a little scared. He also takes medicine for nausea, the names of which I can't recall.
On normal days he barely eats and on the occasion he does the meal usually consists of an Ensure. After researching cannabis myself (through books and other methods), I began to wonder if it may be beneficial for his current state. I am very glad of the progress he has made so far but am worried about 1) his tremendous loss of appetite 2) the prescribed medications he has been taking. My questions are: is there any one with esophageal cancer medicating  with cannabis that has promising effects? In general is cannabis a possible route for his condition? Thank you for taking the time to read this!

  2. Yes it will help him eat and get his strength up. Burn one down with him or make an edible

¡satan has tricked the world into thinking he does not exist!

  3. Absolutely it would be a good medicine. Do you have access to good medicine and or wish to grow?

  4. I live in a state without medicinal access unfortunately. The connections seem plentiful within the city I live in but I'm not sure of the quality itself. Also is there a higher risk of lung problems via smoking? It seems that vaporizing is the way to go from what I've heard.

  5. There is a THC medication called marinol. It is expensive but it works wonders for appetite. Also helps with pain/ discomfort and the agitation that can follow. Ask his doctor if he/she thinks it would be right for him. (Otherwise it's back to dirt roading and smoking out:) ...when my husband had testicular cancer he just went behind the dumpster)

  6. There are two fundamentally different approaches. Your father could use cannabis in various forms (vaping, eating, smoking, etc.) for nausea, pain and appetite. Alternatively, he could attack the root of the problem by taking 60+ grams of RSO, eliminating pharmaceuticals, eating a nutritious diet and exercising.

  7. i have, after being diagnosed with pre-throat cancer, been free of any occurrence since 2005 thanks to this herb. hope the best for you and yours my friend.

It was a different cancer, but this is a good place to start your education on cannabis and cancer-

Do you know about RSO, a very concentrated extract of cannabis? If you have no clue about what I am talking about, watch this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGjC4HReFL0

Get your father (and yourself) on Omega 3! Cannabis heals by activating the CB1 and CB2 receptors. Again, if you don't know what i am talking about , please read-

Introduction to the Endocannabinoid System (news – 2011) http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=8444

To properly make the CB receptors, your body NEEDS Omega 3! If you don't have it in your body, any new CB receptors are left unconnected! They can't heal any more than a speaker with a broken wire can produce music for you. (n-3 = Omega 3)

    Nutritional omega-3 deficiency abolishes endocannabinoid-mediated neuronal functions. (abst – 2011) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21278728

"In n-3-deficient mice, presynaptic cannabinoid CB(1) receptors (CB(1)Rs) normally responding to endocannabinoids were uncoupled from their effector G(i/o) proteins."

When the CB receptors are unconnected, they can't send the "DIE!" message into cancer cells- they are dud receptors! Get your dad on krill oil or Fish oil, ASAP!

The average American diet has almost no Omega 3 in it and is overloaded with Omega 6. Omega 6 is pro-inflammatory, and inflammation helps cancers grow. We DO need some Omega 6, but we get way too much of it simply because it is cheaper than the more healthy Omega 3 oils. The food industry uses a LOT of Omega 6 oils in the processed and fast food most folks eat.

Your whole family should take a close look at the cooking oils you all use, and what you are eating! Eat wild-caught fish, and grass-fed beef. Use hemp seed oil to make your own salad dressings. Changing your diet changes the health of your endocannabinoid system, and that changes EVERYTHING your body does!

But most of all, you need to check out the bottom of my sig and send me an email! I will send you back, a "humongous" bunch of links, "Granny Storm Crow's List", so you can learn more. I have done the hard part, finding the studies and articles, and putting them in a logical order. All you have to do is scroll down until you find what you need!

(This offer is open to everyone at GC who would like a free copy of my List!)

    Hope that helps!
