Starting this thread 2/3s into my grow and my new setup. Still not finished, but will do for now. This is a fine example of not being able to commit to any one light. Good or bad I will see this to the end. I have been growing off and on for 15 years. With DWC and baked clay pebbles usually 2-3 pants. So spec's 250w HPS This is about 7 grows old in 10 years. So yes it is magnetic. New iPower 250W Super HPS Light Bulb 33,000 lumens 2100-2800k. This is my, for now, main light. Looking to get a dimmable 400 watt HPS that can reach the same heat level of this 250w. New 4 x 32w 2700k CFL , 3rd grow 105w 6500k CFL, New 3 23w 2700k CFL. I do have 2 26w UVB CFL's I don't know if I should add them in. I read it is best to use it only for a hour a day or for short bursts on a separate timer. Think the LED takes care of the UV/UVB though might have to double check. In a 4 x 4 x 6.5 ft grow tent. Carbon filter and 215 cfm fan on filter, set to go off at 25 degrees C and 50-78 cfm fan on constantly(in pic). Heat has never been a real issue with this lower watt HPS. Even in my old closet grow, which was 2 x 3 x 5 ft. I have 4 plants, 2 Big Bomb(Bomb Seeds) and 2 Coffee Gold(Seeds of Africa). Seeds of Africa seeds were the smallest beans I have ever seen from a bank. Out of the 10, 5 cracked and luckily for me 2 were female. The Bomb seeds were alot better. All 10 cracked and 6 females, I took the best 2. Using 5 gallon cloth bag, with a mix of 1/3 soil/perlite/vermiculite and a nice layer of coconut husks on top. Using the tried and true SCReen of Green SCROG. Coffee has a 14 week flower period a pure landrace strain of african sativa. Big Bomb is 8-10 weeks, but I plan to grow it out a little more to get a stronger CBN level. I have not seen many journals of Coffee I hope you can all drop by for your dose of Coffee once and a while. Like I always tell my visitors "Coffee, you just have to make some." Well Iam brewing up (hopefully) a dank batch of Coffee. Below is what Big & Coffee look like today(above pics are 10 days old).
Awesome Ebay seller just got back to me(in 4 hrs too) and asked for me to send a video or some pics to verify the problem. They said they can send the replacement parts as soon as the problem is confirmed. That is just wicked I might just order 2 of the 75w COB LED's and nix the CFLs.
Looking forward to seeing how this pans out. We know the guys at seeds of Africa, they are very good guys and have access to some of teh best landrace sativas we have seen. It is interesting that you mention the size of the seeds as you normally see that very pure sativas have very small seeds.
Awesome how do you take your coffee lol? Just gotta say the seeds are really the bomb. I have grown only a few strains in my time but this one is a joy, I hope I do your seeds justice. Out of the 6 females I saw no variation of the strain, unlike a few grows where I thought I was growing 2 different plants. I have just ordered Atomic . After this grow I hope to be further impressed with the name Bomb Seeds. Friend I'm tutoring on growing, wants to try and make a Coffee Bomb, but we gotta see how good she is first.

Update on the burnt out light. Confirmed it was the led chip company is sending it today . So impressed with the service I went "all-out" and bout 2 more of the 200w LED's. If I haven't said it before, these lights are impressive. You can feel the radiation. Review material I read before purchase, said these have to be around 1 meter above the canopy to avoid burning the leaves. It is very true, I lost my first batch, which was Berry Bomb, this way. My little wardrobe "growbox" was like a convection oven. In hindsight keeping the 3 105w cfl's in small space was a bad idea lol. And having the LED light less than 1 ft from the canopy, not recommended. Hey if it survived I might have gotten a few hundred Femed Berry Bomb seeds ;p Lesson learned, I'll get the Berry next time grown in a place with more room. It was a beautiful plant that didn't mind my harsh LST in a tiny growbox. I have done a few grows and you just can't beat the HPS in taste. The CFL's are fine, but there is always that taste, that taste of something not worked out of the plant. idk I might have just done a few things wrong. They are bar none the best support lights out there. Everyone should have a couple-few around, for back up at least if a bulb burns out. So I wanted to try a new light figured time to bite the bullet and at least give an honest try with LED's. It has been a few years since the tech came out. And just not having the cash for Plasma LED's, Chip On Board LED's seems the next best choice. I had thought about using SMD LED String lights as the grid for a SCRoG, but after running the lights for 5 hours. The heat they created, was just too risky, Ive hermie'd my fairshare back in the day. Also in the world of DWC life can get bad quickly ie. algie, water issues, PH issues, root care. Doesn't take much and BAM 2000 seeds lawl. Can laugh about it now but back then it choked me up. These SMD 5050 light can add 750-950 lumens of light per string(150-300 individual chips). Doubt if they will burn the leaves, but 2 strings raised the temp of my growbow 8 degrees Celsius. Hate cutting them(hate cutting the plant period) little shoots under the SCRoG. They just want to be buds too and make people happy. Ill find a way to bring em light L8r.
BAHAHAHAHA awesome. Apparently the Coffee name derives from the name of a coast. Where many ship wrecks happened and coffee started growing wild there. Nothing to do with taste or effects When I saw them it instantly reminded me of the one Simpsons episode. Where they created Tomacco 1/2 tomato, 1/2 tobacco lol. We can only dream. It's wonderful when the seed has a story though. Yeah Atomic is going in the fridge for another month when she comes in. Might just order another strain from SoA and try another pure sativa.

Well made another order for an Apollo 400w HPS/MH light. Time to send the 250w to veg duty soon. I didn't mention my nute's because Iam using some left over(7years) nutes from when I bought my first DWC set from Stealth Hydro. So I ordered some from General Hydro, from amazon, to start the next batch. Can't beat their free shipping for prime members. Here are the gurls today. One side has the HPS now so u can really see the different spectrum's in the pic. One week and will update with hopefully a 400w(using a 250buld) and couple new LED lights.
I made my own CO2 emitter couple days ago. Well a poor mans version anyway. I made 3 gallons of homemade beer(home brew) lawl in a cooler. Simple warm water(3 gal), sugar(1kg), yeast(1 tblspn) and a old package of raisins. Add a couple tablespoon of sugar when the lights go on and move it(the cooler) in the room. When the lights go out and the plants needs more O2 just take the cooler out to another room. Can already notice the room is a bit hotter. P.S. I wont be drinking it. It is just for science lol
Yes they are still in business(prices haven't changed in 7 year lol) http://www.stealthhydroponics.com/product.php?xProd=4 These nutes are simple and my plant seems to love them idk if I should order another 6 months worth(just as back up), Since it seems to have a long shelf life and is so easy to use. But yeah that is the first DWC set I got and man do they work good. Only problem you will see is algae. Plastic Bin is to thin and lots of light is able to penetrate the box. I found some 3 inch wide electrical tap and taped the shipping light boxes(for the CFL that came with it) to the top and around the bin. Still managed to get algie. So had to do the next best thing and that was add couple tablespoons of bleach every month or so. Funny I though that would kill it but they seemed to get healthier with a bit-o-bleach. Found out you can also use food coloring to keep algae to a minimum. Also they put six pot holes in it, when it can really only handle 3 plants max.
Well the new light came in and the 400w MH bulb was broken. The 400w HPS light seems to be ok. Horilux bulb still in the mail too. First pic is with the old 250w and 200 cob led 2nd is with the 400w(sorry gotta figure out the camera settings yet this camera is still new to me). See how heat goes these next 2 days may switch to the 250w. Little disappointed the LED Lights haven't arrived yet, they did take 10 business days last time. So maybe Monday.
Well I figured out the settings, on the camera. I will have to take some better close ups with the fan off, next time I go over. That is Big Bomb on the left and Coffee Gold on the right. Buds are already rock hard on the big bomb. They have been enjoying the Led light mixed with the HPS.
Hailrorz Sorry had some bad things happen with the grow(first run problems) As I said before this grow was to help a friend learn the basics of growing and we made some first mistakes. We did how ever to let the Big Bomb run its full cycle. and super cropped it(just to show buddy). We let them grow another 2 weeks after the crop. Can say that the Big Bomb took it like a champ and gave a tidy final harvest of 6ish oz's(idk how much buddy.... trimmed too. my guess is at least 1/3 of one plants growth potential). This strain is very good for a first time grower. Maybe too good(need to further explain about cutting a plant and stress to my student lol). Nice mellow smoke with a decent stone. Now the Coffee. Like a strong sativa, she grew out of control(even for the SCRoG) and it was late when I noticed the break in one of the plants stems. This forced the plant to hermi and seed pods developed so we cut it down 1 1/2 months early. I think if given the chance this plant could have reached 6-7 feet easy, even if the screen was not there. We did get an amazing harvest of 7ish oz's of some one of a kind smoke. Man I wished they made it to the end that would have been some glorious smoke. Even the semi done buds were fairly strong. After letting him make the decision, and purchase. we are now growing some Big Bang #1. When I find a new camera I will snap a few pics. My old camera just could not take the proper colour pictures, or I just couldn't figure it all out lol.
