Yo everyone. So I've been on a diet for a little bit now and it just doesn't seem to quite be doing the trick. I have a bench, a bar, and a lot of plates. I don't really know shit about lifting. So I was just wondering how I should be lifting to lose weight pretty much what kinds of lifts and what not. Any tips will help, thanks. Peace✌ï¸:
Lifting weights builds muscle which in return he's burn fat faster. You need good cardio of you're going to loose weight.
Lifting weights can definitely help you lose weight, it burns calories and builds muscle, which in turn helps curb fat storage by taking up calories that would otherwise be converted into fat. If your main goal is weight loss, rather than muscle growth, I'd recommend a cardio heavy workout plan at first. Lifting at the same time can't hurt though.
Look up Rippetoe's Starting Strength. I personally wouldn't do lots of cardio, just need to get your food choices/food intake in check. Make sure to log your foods if you're not already.
It's actually easier to lose weight than many people think. -Diet: high protein! It will make you feel full longer by eating less. Nuts, fish and lean meats are a great source of protein. If you are using protein bars/drinks, look at the carb to protein ratio. Our body does need some carbs and many of the protein shakes/bars out there have minimal carbs making it harder for the protein to do its job. -drink plenty of chilled water: keeping the water chilled is key. It's also important to sip it throughout the day. Our body needs to burn calories to warm the water up, therefore making it easier to lose weight. -Eat breakfast. Sounds corny as hell but breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. It helps jumpstart your metabolism. When we wake up our metabolism is at its lowest so in order to make it easier to burn those calories it is important to eat something in the morning. Not necessarily a whole meal but something. -Don't eat too late at night. Our food just kind of chills in our bodies when we are sleeping since our body is at rest. A good rule is not to eat within 2 hours of your normal bedtime, so your food can have plenty of time to digest. -Exercise: Exercise is huge because it helps burn calories. A good workout contains a balance of cardio and strength training. Always eat something before you work out and always drink water throughout your workout. Also be sure to challenge yourself. If something seems too easy for you, it probably is. Don't take the easy way out. If it hurts, it works. Also a good thing to remember is that as you build muscle it will seem like you are gaining weight, but you should notice changes in your body (such as clothes fitting better even though you may have not lost anything). So don't get discouraged, it can take some time for the pounds to drop. Also remember to reward yourself. If you did a good job this week reward yourself with a treat.
