So, I Spent A Good Bit On A Newport Torch Lighter. Ive Now Found Out The Child Safety Breaks Off?

Okay, so I bought an amazing Newport Butane torch today,  I mean compact but an incredible flame, perfect for lighting Hookah charcoals\\etc. My worry however is I've heard twice now that the "child saftey" lever that you push down prior to lighting snaps off, as it is plastic.
 
Has anyone else dealt with these? I'm really pondering about just getting some JB WELD and reinforcing the plastic child-saftey that goes up and down, though I could just be paranoid, I love the thing and don't want it to break.
