Building Pc Grow Fan Need Criticism

  1. I have this pc that's 14" tall, and yes I know it's small but it's all I got right now, salvaged 3 fans out of it and one of them is odd looking (hopefully someone will be able to tell me what it is) ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1406499963.759298.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1406499995.793209.jpg Forum1406499963.759298.jpg]

The one in your hand? That sir would be a CPU fan. It cools your computer's central processing chip. The heatsink draws the heat away from the chip and the fan attached flows cool air over the heatsink cooling it. The actual heatsink is useless for a grow, but the fan could be used I suppose. You'll need to power the fans with a 12V (Volt) power supply of some sort. A lot of laptop chargers put out 12V. Just pick one up that does, cut the connector, and attach the fans to it.

  3. Next step is to take out these shelves I'm not quite sure how to do it seeing as I definitely don't have the proper tools, any advice? ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1406501705.722681.jpg

If they are riveted, you'll have to get a drill bit just smaller than the rivet. Then just drill out each rivet.

Yes use the largest ones you can on the rivets and they will just fall out after you drill a little bit.

  7. Hey thanks guys I've completely removed all the rivets and now I'm wondering what should I do next, any suggestions?

  8. I was also looking at this YouTube video which included the PC power cord and wiring it to a power Brock, is it possible just to have the power brick cord coming out of the pc and just plugging it into a wall and I can't put electrical tape so no air or smell can get out of it, thanks for the help I'll update you guys tomorrow

Where do you want to put electrical tape?

If you are going to use the power supply that was/is in your computer case, make sure it is well ventilated. Those things burn up if they can't expel the hot air they create.  So as long as you aren't covering up the ventilation holes on the power supply, you'll be fine.
