Hey guys new to the forum. been a partaker for numerous years, recently decided to make some BHO. i figure ill tell you my process then tell you the problem and see if anyone can help me out. i run a glass tube, that fits about 9-10G's, i also run 14x Vector butane i also run 14x Vector butane ok so i start off with full buds, i pull out all the sticks and seeds, full apart the buds abit and fill up the tube, as im filling it up i compact it with a wooden dowel once its full i put 2x unbleached coffee filter on the end and a few rubberbands to secure it. i blow into a pyrex bowl that has hot water in it, over the water is a silicon cooking mat, at no time does the water ever get into the BHO mixture i blow the Tane, outdoors of course, and run about half a can, i pull out the buds, grindem and stuff them back in. and run the other half. at this point i let it sit until all the butane has evap'd, this normally takes about 5-10 minutes once butane is gone im left with some very sticky, and actually smokeable "wax" i scrape this up, then using a small piece of the mat iv cut off, i place the mat on a heating plate, and place the wax on this to start the purge. once i feel it is fully purged "ie: no more butane bubbles and the color changes slightly" i pull it off the heat and let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. now then after all this i go to smoke my "wax" and its no longer sticky, in fact its quite the opposite, its a dust, almost comparable to Kief. in this state it is quite hard to pick it up as it doesnt stick to my tool anymore. So where did i go wrong? lol iv seen some post before that people actually have a really long purge process to get to a powdery kiefey bho, well maybe they are doing it wrong cause iv made it pretty easy. dont get me wrong it smokes and gets me on cloud nine no problem, but i would prefer something more "waxy" and less powdery
So you blast directly onto a nonstick mat, and you heat purge for how long? What temps? Please tell me I'm reading this wrong.... Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I read that its not advisable to blast on parchment or the non stick mat. I blast into a square pyrex thats in a frying pan of warm water.
ok well i purge it for about 15-20 minutes on a heated surface, the surface in question should be around 150 degrees as per the manufactor specs. also i was playing with what i had and was able to make this using my torch it seems the oil needed to be remelted into one piece, its wierd
No way that stuff is clean if you only had it at 150 degree for 15-20 min.... Read through the 5k posts in the bho discussion thread. Good luck and stay safe blade. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
ok so idk what it is but it hits like a champ, i made it with GDP, whats the problem with blowing on a non stick pad, and what do you mean by clean
Im purging an hour at 120F. Whipping it lots to get the tane out. I end up with some sappy honey. View attachment 1497565 This is 2.5 grams
I'm saying there's gotta be some 'tane left in the product because you are not properly purging. As for blasting onto nonstick, I know I read many, many times that it is not a good idea. Somebody who can properly explain will drop by soon enough... Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
@[member="EnjoiKush"] why i think i made some form of fucked up GDP Wax thing that will still hit for me
Did I seriously just read u let it evap for 2o minutes then smoke it? Are u retarded? Lol Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Whipping it traps more tane aswell lol dear god man did u do any research? Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
i did some research yes, and from i understand ingesting tane does nothing other then bad taste, and i dont have any bad taste so im assuming the PPM of tane is very low. that being said this is why i post in the Novice section, so i could get some help.
@[member="EnjoiKush"] what would you consider the proper way to go about this, keep in mind im running small amounts
the testing has been done bro, you can keep thinking that though @[member="BoostFreak"], blast onto pyrex on a warm water bath until the liquid tane is boiled off and then bring inside to a warm griddle around 100F and cover your dish with a paper towel or something to keep debris out. leave it on the 100F griddle for like 3-4 days without agitating before scraping it and dabbing it.
