5-6 Year Smokers, I Have A Question.

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by Lifeforms, Jul 27, 2014.

  1. I have been smoking for the last 6 or so years. Well, I guess it's more like 5, because I quit for about a year a while back. I kind of lost interest in it and I was moving to a new location, so obviously bud wasn't easy to come by and wasn't really a top priority for me at the time.

Anyway, my question is simple - do any of you smokers (who have a few years of continuous smoking under your belt) ever still get the occasional 'scary high'?

I feel very experienced in the matter, and I still from time-to-time will get so baked, I end up getting kind of nervous. It's not paranoia about getting in trouble or anything stupid like that. I am in my mid 20s and live in my own house that's quite secluded from everyone else. It's hard to explain. Maybe it's just your general slight form of anxiety, but I tend to get a little worried if I get too stoned. I don't even know about what, either. It's not about anything in particular, I just get this wave of worry over me. It only lasts a few minutes before I tell myself it's just because I am stoned beyond recognition, but it still occurs at least once every 10 smoke sessions.

What do you guys think? Just your typical stoner anxiety? Does it happen to you, even though you're very familiar and comfortable with the plant?

The only reason it's strange to me is that it never used to happen before I took that year off. I could smoke all day and night and never have a worrisome thought or feeling cross my mind. I am definitely back into my original flow, too, so it's not like the break is still affecting me at all.

    Thanks.

  2. You are correct just typical stoner anxiety.  Happens to me every once in a while as well even though I been tokin daily for over a decade.  I always guess it's that type of bud I'm smokin.

  3. happens to me sometimes but I never sweat it, it always passes with in a few minutes.

  4. Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, it's never anything that's unbearable. It's relatively easy to shake off, it just makes no sense.

I wonder why that happens, even after so many years and experiences?

    It's a strange concept, that's for sure.

  5. once in a blue moon. I dont sweat it though.

  6. The 'scary high' you're talking about happens when I take a nice break(about a month) and my tolerance is so low that I get crazy high for the next couple weeks. That's why when I take a break I only take a nice bong rip because it gets me so stoned.

  7.
Yeah, my tolerance is much lower than it used to be. I used to go through a quarter per week, but now a quarter probably lasts me a good 4-5 weeks. I typically load a big bowl and then just nibble on that throughout the day and it's perfect for me. However, when I am caught up in something, like watching Netflix or doing something around the house, I can end up smoking the entire bowl in one session and then I realize I am too baked and will occasionally get those 'scary high' moments.

  8. Damn just a bowl? I usually smoke 2-3 per session lol. I smoke twice a day maybe 3 times.

  9. I get that feeling every time I smoke. It lasts about 5-10 minutes and then I'm mellow

  10. Yeah, haha.

I used to be the same. Several bowls per sitting, several times per day, but I have found that after the year off of it, the less I smoke, the more I enjoy it. If that even makes sense, haha.

    Really? Every time?

Just the first rush of it hitting you or what?

  11. Anxiety. Paranoia. Discomfort. Its overwhelming. Its worse if I'm around people. I just stfu and breathe deeply and fight it off till its gone.

Took many t breaks for that reason. If I smoke chronic, its not as bad.

Back in the day it was like a tickling buzz inside of my chest; I loved the feeling. Now its a horrible feeling.

  12. Yes, once I thought I was having a heart attack and it was bad anxiety. The anxiety usually only happens when I smoke alone but when I'm with people it's great.

  13. I don't know what you mean by scary. For me excluding sensory changes. Sometimes I can be discerned by a racing heartbeat associated with chest pain, as well as dizzy spells. It never seems to be circumstancial it just happens,.

  14. Hardly ever, and if I do get nervous/scared it's definitely not due to the bud, but something out of the ordinary in my environment/surroundings.

I never really do, like i used to anyways....i actually miss the sudden wave of paranoia that used to sometimes fall upon me after smoking for whatever reason...

MATTER                           .......that's my policy esp. regarding drugs.

  15. And the bud is still enjoyable for you with all of that?

I can't imagine having that feeling every single time I smoked. It'd bum me out.

Just getting it once every 10-15 times is annoying enough.

  16. I honestly don't know how to describe it.

It's like I get this rushing feeling that something bad is going to happen and then I get really nervous for a few minutes, but then I can talk myself down or I just focus on something else and it's gone.

I never get chest pains or dizzy spells, though. Mine is all in my head and nothing physical.

  17. Ahh ok. Just make sure you are in a safe setting, find what you prefer. Light or no light. Sound or no sound. These can effect the onset of it. If your not comfortable sometimes it can give you some stress and increase your feeling of dread. Adapt to yourself, If you need to find what settles you so you're more relaxed and prepared.

  18. Personally, no. Any anxiety I have is typically greatly reduced when I smoke. I'm pretty sure an individual's brain chemistry and how their brain reacts to cannabinoids is the direct cause of this, making me assume, while that most people experience the same side effects as others (common, I would fall into that category), others may experience a wide range of side effects varying from headaches, to light-headedness, to blurred vision, some people even claim they have had hallucinations just from smoking weed (much more uncommon to rare side effects..) I would think that you fit somewhere in the uncommon section, as I don't know many people who experience worse anxiety after they smoke (I mean in experienced smokers, new smokers are never sure what to fully expect). But then again, I could be entirely wrong. Or I could be right, but at the wrong angle... meaning if it is your brain chemistry, then something like your diet may be affecting how weed effects you.

Think about it like this; if you eat fish, or peppermints, supposedly it increases your level of focus, helping your brain (I don't know if this happened, but before all the tests when I was in school, at least elementary, my teacher would bust out a big bag of peppermints for everybody to kind of suck on during the test for this exact purpose). what I'm saying is that if a peppermint can have a positive effect on your brain, then perhaps something else could be causing a slightly negative effect in your brain, causing you to have your anxious feelings.

Just some speculation. I'm not a doctor, though... Man, I say that a lot haha.

  19. I usually am very comfortable. I usually only smoke after I get off work, in the comfort of my own home, while watching TV with my dogs.
I guess what it boils down to is I really only get moderately stoned anymore and if I go too far, it's kind of overwhelming at first and it takes me a minute to realize how stoned i've gotten and settle into it. It's just unfortunate, because as rare as it is, it never used to happen to me. It's kind of sad, really. I used to get so stoned, I would just melt into the couch and feel great. I don't think I could do that anymore without having to gather myself.

  20. Yea I still like smoking even with the anxiety. I'm paranoid 24/7, simply because I like to open up to people, but people don't reciprocate most of the time; which leads me to believe they're hiding something from me.

That's what I get. The stupid rush.
