Uk Vaporizer For Dry Herb?

Discussion in 'Vaporizers' started by scarlettohaira, Jul 27, 2014.

  1. I have been reading online for months now about vaporizers, and, having recently switched from rolling tobacco to eliquids anyway, now seems a sensible time to take the plunge.

But, despite extensive research, I have not been able to decide conclusively on what I want.  I struggle with decision-making at the best of times, and when the decision involves substantial investment I am even more likely to procrastinate.

My main reasons for cannabis use are pain relief and brain relief.  I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, spondylosis, osteomalacia, dysthymia, anxiety and various other lifelong conditions.

I am used to smoking dry herb with tobacco, and have used a bong only a handful of times at the most, though I suspect I might like the option of a vaporizer/bong combo.  The bag option is not crucial, but since this will be a long-term investment, it would perhaps be nice to have this versatility.  I can't take long draws, and prefer a cooler temperature vape.

I only really intend this to be for home use, although I can see that portability might be useful on occasion.

So, I am after some help please!

I have ruled out the following:

MFLB - I don't know why, but I don't like the battery concept.  I can very much see this holds its reputation for good reason, but its not for me right now.
Vapir "anything" - I have seen respected forum members' opinions on this topic, and read various reports of poor quality and bad service
Volcano - it's just too expensive.  Isn't it?
Plenty - I was really liking the idea of this one, but the fact it doesn't actually sit upright annoys me too much.

Other things that matter to me:

    Temperature control
    Ease of use
    Easy to clean
    UK availability
    Durability (daily use)
    Efficiency
Quality of parts (e.g. glass over plastic)

Vaporizers I keep coming back to:

Firefly (the cult tv geek in me can't help it!)
    Herbalaire
    Silver Surfer
    Life Saber
    Pax Ploom
    Extreme Q
    Da Vinci Ascent

I could ramble on some more, but hopefully the above will yield some great advice to begin with!

    Thank  you!

I have a Da Buddha, which is a cheaper version of the silver surfer. It's not a highly efficient vape, but that thing rips. Im talking huge clouds. Very easy transition from combustion.
Look for a blemished model if you end up going with the silver surfer, it might be mismatched colors but they are highly discounted!

Hopefully they have a UK version because I'm not really sure. Hope that helps. Iwien will def be able to guide you in the correct direction if he stops by. Probably one of the most respectable and knowledgable vape members on the forum.

I'd also recommend reading the plethora of reviews, for the vaporizers you have in mind, over at the FC (fuckcombustion) forums.

EDIT: what are you looking for in a vape? Portability, efficiency, convection or conduction, stealth? Be more specific about what is top priority as far as functionality and you'll get some great assistance.

    Thank you for this.

If I was to narrow down my criteria further than in my original post, I guess ease of use, efficiency and versatility would be of most importance to me.

    Definitely looking for convection.

I have read hundreds of reviews and am still struggling!

  4. Does it need to be portable or are you interested in a home unit? I know the log style vapes are highly-efficient. Underdog is one if I am not mistaken.

  5. It doesn't need to be portable, no, though I would prefer to be able to tuck it away easily if the doorbell rings, for example.

I would like the versatility of different temperature settings and maybe the option of balloon as well as whip, but not a deal-breaker.

  6. Judging by these two posts as well as your original post it sounds as if the herbalaire would be right for you. You can use it with direct draw, whip, balloons, and they now have a tapered Teflon pong attachment available as well for water filtration that fits both 14mm and 18mm. It is the most efficient bag vape and does well in its other aspects as well. As far as ease of use goes just fill up the crucible, crank up the temp dial, and puff away. This is also a VERY durable vape that should last for years to come, and although I've never had to deal with their customer service I hear it rivals the mflbs in terms of taking care of their customers. Hope this helps and good luck!

  7. Thanks, @[member="Mr Horsepower"]

I was definitely leaning towards the herbalaire, so it's good to know I wasn't way off the mark.

However, other than the lack of balloon option, I'm being drawn more and more to the LSV...

I *think* I have now narrowed my decision down to the DBV, Herbalaire, SSV or LSV.

I might have muddled up my memories of what I've read about the Herbalaire & Herbalizer... I think I have read one of them is nowhere near as "tried and trusted" as the offerings by 7th Floor?

Those of you using the LSV, what were your reasons for choosing it?  Can you see any reason why it might not be right for me?

  8. You can't go wrong with any of the 7th floor products. They are a well renowned company, and all of there products are "heavy hitters" which means less conservation, but bigger clouds. The lsv is an excellent vape if water filtration is your primary desire. It rivals the 200$ more expensive evo which is in the same class of vaporizer. Iwien should be entering any minute to give you some insight as the lsv is his daily driver alongside the mflb.

VERY high vapor to air ratio.

VERY heavy hitter............able to produce HUGE vapor clouds.

    Virtually no draw resistance.

Almost a totally glass air and vapor path.     The only thing the air comes in contact with is the ceramic heater element and the stainless screen.  No plastic, rubber or silicone in the vapor or air path at all from either the vape itself, or from bags or from whips.   End result......a very healthy and pure taste.

Not a lot of surface area for condensation to take place when using the transfer wand.

The spherical mating between the LSV and their water pipe adapter which when mated to a bong or bubbler is a PERFECT match and takes the whole idea of vaporbonging to a whole new level.

No moving parts for increased reliability other than the rheostat knob for adjusting temp.

    Variable temp control.

Comes with a VERY high quality velvet lined, multi-pocketed carrying and storage bag made from hemp.

VERY low price when compared to vapes that have similar characteristics.

    (this sounds like ad copy............lol)

I prefer to "sip" (though my lung capacity is improving) and prefer a cooler draw.  Are there any of the four I could rule out on this basis?

Would the e-nano be completely unsuitable for me?

  11. I really like the e-nano, and am sure I would get on well with it.  However, I can't find clear details on international returns or shipping and am a little apprehensive about how easy any problem would be to resolve.  Also not sure about UK availability for add-ons and accessories.  I could tolerate the shipping time for the vaporizer, but I want to be able to get my hands on parts etc fairly quickly and painlessly.

So, I seem now to have whittled it down to the SSV, the HA (any opinion as to 2.2 vs Elite?), the Extreme Q (wait - where did that come from?) and the e-nano (if I can find peace of mind about the aforementioned concerns).

    MORE HELP PLEASE!

    :confused_2:

  12. Hey man you should consider the iolite original it's really durable and easy to use. Cleaning is very easy.. It's made in Ireland so that's close and good unless your like my grandpa (a lower class Welshman living in the valleys in southern wales) he hates Irish people... So ya do some YouTube research on it. I have one personally and use it quite often like in my room not causing a lot of noise or smell. Also very portable I've walked by a cop prentending it was a warlike talkie saying "COMANDER! Commander!!!" And the cop just thought I was crazy so ya very discreet

The Vape life is the only life for me.

  13. The iolite original is notorious for not being durable. It is literally one of the least durable vaporizers on the market. Iolite pretty much single handily ruined the reputation of butane vaporizers.

Go with Davinci Ascent, I love mine! I use mine for bud all the time, and if you wanted to you can use it while it's plugged in, it's almost like a phone charger real easy to just plug it back in when you aren't using it and you can potentially use it whenever and always have battery. Personally I use mine three to five times a day and in a three month span it has died twice on long car rides. Full charge is only about two hours of continuous use but if you keep it plugged in you're pretty much set buddy! That's my input

  15.
Yup.   It was the worst tasting vape I've ever had.    I won it in a contest over at FC.    Gave it away a few weeks later.

  16. For 165 quid you cant go wrong with an Ascent  lots of good reviews is why i bought it in the end,  i thought about a volcano but its to big and really not portable.

  17. The crafty rocked my world

  18. Crafty is very good but I would wait for version 2 of it and it's very expensive. I have the ascent which has not done me wrong yet.
