To Much Light?

  1. I am about to start my 2nd grow, the first was just some bag seed I got from CO. I grew 4 of them with 2' 4 bulb t5s. I have 2700k and 6300k bulbs. I now also have a 400w mh and hps. The tent I plan to grow in is 5'x4'x2'. Would using both the mh/hps and t5s be a waste in that size of space? Thanks in advance :)

  2. The 400w HPS should be fine for a 2x4x5 tent.

Photosynthesis rates depend on 3 things....light intensity, Co2 availability and temperature. Plants can use light all the way up until a point called the light saturation point. This is the point where plants can not use any more light, unless more CO2 is added, and actually can decrease photosynthesis rates if temperature is too hot, or CO2 is not available in abundance...so with this being said.... a 400w HPS or MH should be fine for a 2x4x5 tent....adding more light may help if you are using Co2, and your temps are kept in controll. without extra CO2, though, you may not notice much of a difference and actually decrease the speed in which they grow if you give them too much light...

The best way to be sure...buy a par meter....if you are reading over 800 Umol at the plant canopy...then no more light is needed and Co2 should be added..... anywhere from 500-700umol is assumed to be optimal for cannabis growing.

  3. Alrighty, thank you for the helpful advice. How do you add CO2 to the grow room?
