Led Light Question

  1. So I want to start growing hydro for the first time I have no experience with lumens and all that stuff the only thing I know what watt is...
    So I was wondering if I want to grow hydro what LEDs will I use something like 30 watt will be enough?
    I live in the EU so I dont have access to those fancy american only websites :(

    But nvm ive been looking at prices they vary from 150-500 euro that is way to high for me 
     
  4. 30 watts won't work.. For any setup.
    There's some pretty good quality low priced LEDs out there.

    You want at the least 40 watts per square foot of area and an LED light will usually use about half of its rated watts.
     
    An area of 2x2' has 4 square feet so you want at least 160 watts, so that would be a 320w panel 
     
    A 30w light would actually draw about 15 watts and just wouldn't be enough for the smallest of plants. If you can't afford to spend at the very least £100 then HPS or maybe CFL is better
