First Time Grower - Looking Great Until Now

  1. Hello! My husband and I are new growers. Here is a little info on the grow, copied from an introduction posted by my husband a few days ago - "So I'm new to the forum and new to growing. A little background, I just got out of the Army after 10 years and moved to Washington so naturally, time to celebrate! The income has been limited so we (wife and I) have had to buy lights/nutes/etc as we go and kinda build it up as time went on. We have been using all fluorescent lighting so far. We started with 4 2700k CFL's, computer fans and some miracle grow ( i know...i know...) As soon as our seedlings became small plants and entered the veg phase, I purchased a SunBlaze 24 6500k. At this point the CFL's were aimed at the sides and the sunblaze on top of the plants. At this point we also transplanted to 2 gallon pots and began using fox farm soil. A few 2700k CFL's were added for a total of 6. We have very limited space so we decided toflower early. (Following the "Buds for less 69 day grow guide"). The seeds we got were bagseed from a sativa strain called Sweetberry. At this point we have added a few more 2700k CFL's and are nearing time to harvest (I think) lol."

So that's where we are now. For a couple of days, we've noticed what looks like burns on the leaves. I just assumed they were small burns from the side lights. It's starting to become more frequent, though, in places nowhere near the lights. A few stems have started to turn reddish, and are drooping. We thought perhaps we had caused nutrient burn at one point, so we flushed them. I'm pretty sure we may have over watered when we did that, which was about 3 days ago, so we let them dry a bit. Did we stress out the plants, or is this something else? We're a bit worried, as we think we're only a couple of weeks from harvest. (The last picture is me holding a main cola to show how far along we are before harvest.)

  2. We were thinking either nutes burn or magnesium shortage... What do you guys think?

  3. I thought a little more about it.... We recently added a little new soil (Fox farm) Because there was a lot of settling....and I did fertiliZe after. I bet I burned them by combining the two. I gave them a good flush, I figured over watering for just a couple days was better than burning them.... Thoughts?

  4. If you feel you had nute burn than idealy ya did the right thing in flushing. Hope they cheer up for you quickly =)

  5. I would go with nut burn and overwatering for the dropping problem. Happens a lot to first time/new growers. The excitement of seeing buds and almost finishing makes you want to do a little extra lol. I'd leave her alone for a few days and let the soil dry up. Just watch her and let her be.

I too served in the military (Air Force) and started growing immediately after I separated so I know your excitement.

  6. Always best to stick to the same soil/potting mix thru out the entire grow, or suffer indifferent nute imbalances such as this, as a guess I'd say you still have 3 weeks plus to go, avoid any further feeding, and flush well 14-10 days from harvest, as this flush will remove excess nutes and toxins from the rootzone, allow to recover the plants overnight, for the sun in the morning

  7. Thanks for the input guys! The flushing seems to have stopped the problem in it's tracks. Still a little bit of purpling in the stems but it has cleared up a little, and no new burns. The plants are looking happier today!
